I expect it to be rather invigorating.

$this->bbcode_second_pass_quote('', 'I')ts the same reason all our lives are entirely pointless everything you have ever done has essentially been destroyed by the passing of time. And one day you will feel nothing at all.

Try Ayahuasca, it is a mixture of two poisonous plants which will give you a temporary reversible artificial near-death experience. (I used it 20 times, until I took to much and then had a real death experience) Things look different on the other side, life does have purpose.

$this->bbcode_second_pass_quote('Cog', 'I')'ve enjoyed this conversation Tikib but now I must leave now and do one of those things I do not find pleasurable. Mow the grass around my house. No one will appreciate that work but I don't want anyone to say at my funeral, "He had a crappy yard"

You have a nice day.

If you don't like your yard and consider maintaining it a burden, why do you have it? I'll bet you could find some kid with no land, let him farm it, share the produce. No maintenance on your part, and you get fresh produce.

$this->bbcode_second_pass_quote('Tikib', 'I') am not telling anyone how to live there lives, but my view is that life is entirely pointless. We just try and kid ourselves that enjoyment has value so we can follow our biological programming which tells us to keep on living.

Once you try and measure happiness/sadness you find its impossible for various reasons including the 'destruction' of the past. And if you can't measure them how do decide what actions to persue?

Wow, you make this way too complicated. I should say I feel sorry for you, but I don't.

I always thought that the problem isn't that human beings aren't intelligent but the opposite.

life IS valueless. Your only saying that it isn't now because you still have some time left but inevitably you won't soon.

I have thought about this a lot.

Tik, the question of of how valuable or not life is to someone is a totally subjective one that thus cannot be minimized to a right or wrong answer. Our emotional outlook and life experiences inform our deliberation on this matter and what conclusions we may reach

Thought will lead you inevitably to the conclusion of nihilism as it did to Friedrich Nietzsche

Nihilism (/ˈnaɪ.ᵻlɪzəm/ or /ˈniː.ᵻlɪzəm/; from the Latin nihil, nothing) is a philosophical doctrine that suggests the lack of belief in one or more reputedly meaningful aspects of life. Most commonly, nihilism is presented in the form of existential nihilism, which argues that life is without objective meaning, purpose, or intrinsic value.[

https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Friedrich_Nietzsche

Thought alone, especially a lot of it, will not provide an exit out of nihilism, in fact, by definition, it concludes that there is no exit.

Value comes from the heart, from compassion, from taking the ultimate futility of mortal sentience and cultivating love.

Death awaits us all. From here to there is all we have, this brief spark of life. Nihilism is squandering a miracle.

I would say that nihilists would be happier being dead but since they don't believe in existence, that doesn't even work for them. Tikib should get a puppy and raise it through old age. He will know happiness through the eyes of a dog.

I consider myself a nihilist, I've learned to live with it.

Great line from an old Julie Andews movie. Advice to a comatose guy who tried to commit suicide. Goes something like this.

Look Frank, I agree life is shit. Your just trying to do your self in the wrong way. My method of suicide is cigars, booze, and broads. Been at it for 25 years and never been happier.

Very ironically spoken. Thought will lead to nihilism. Nihilism is bad. Therefore, don't think too much. LOL.

$this->bbcode_second_pass_quote('Ibon', 'T')hought alone, especially a lot of it, will not provide an exit out of nihilism, in fact, by definition, it concludes that there is no exit.

Why do you need an exit from nihilism? Nihilism is not a philosophy to live by, it is just the obvious realization that inherent meaning is an illusion.

$this->bbcode_second_pass_quote('Ibon', 'D')eath awaits us all. From here to there is all we have, this brief spark of life. Nihilism is squandering a miracle.

I think you are being a little too hard on nihilism.

Meaning can be extracted from life when you have a purpose to your life. As for being hard on Nihilism well I would think that humans should avoid descending into abject skepticism and rejection of any worthwhile and meaningful purpose and meaning to life as it is patently bad for mental health.
