.

"The foxes that turned into dogs"

http://www.bbc.com/earth/story/20160912 ... -the-world

"In particular, one under-appreciated point about our species is that we have, essentially, domesticated ourselves.
This is borne out in our behaviour. While we have committed our fair share of atrocities,
on the whole we are far less aggressive and violent than our closest relatives, the chimpanzees.

This suggests that human evolution selected for cooperation, tolerance and gentleness
and not, necessarily, for intelligence.

"We always assume that intelligence is responsible for our success," says Hare.
"That humans became smarter, which… allowed us to invent wheels and agriculture and iPhones.
But what if that wasn't what happened?"

Hare suspects that, "like the foxes, and like dogs, we became friendlier first, and then got smarter by accident.
This would mean that our prosocial skills, the skills that allow for cooperation and friendliness,
were what made us successful."

Depends on how you define intelligence. We are CLEVER but not WISE. We are clever enough to make very sophisticated machines for the mass-manufacture of various products. Yet we lack in the basic wisdom to create a sustainable world because like all other species, ranging from bacteria or caribou, we overshoot our carrying capacity once we discover a rich and abundant but finite energy source to tap into. And once we run out of that energy or resource source, our population and society crashes. We have no more wisdom than bacteria in a petri dish or caribou on an Arctic island that stumbled upon a rich and abundant but finite energy source. We use this energy source to exponentially grow our population until we use it all up. And then we experience a die off where a signifcant portion of the population is wiped out. Or in some cases a die-off may even result in a particular species becoming completely extinct.

Also like other species, we lack in the wisdom to peacefully resolve disputes between two groups competeting for resources. We fight wars with another group of people if we are lacking in a resource that someone else might have. When a particular group of people lack in the basic resources to survive, they will revert back to theri base genetic instincts and fight and rob the resources from someone else.

We are more clever than most other species, but in terms of wisdom, we are just as clueless as all the other species on this planet.
History repeats itself. Just everytime with different characters and players.
