Here is the data:
You will notice a few trends.
1. We have roughly 200 "lows", 100 "moderates", 50 "highs", and 20 "very highs".
Thus, the number of people with a low in any given condition is roughly twice the number of people who score moderate. This makes sense. We are not all completely loony and thus most people score in the lower categories.
2. We have a fairly stable group. NO ONE scored very high or even high in borderline. This is probably a good thing and is, I'm sure, reflected in the general population as well. No other disorder had as many "lows". Clearly
www.peakoil.com lacks those with a borderline personality.
3. We have a fairly non-dependent group. NO ONE socred very high in dependent. This makes sense. Those who fear being left to fend for themselves are unlikely to frequent a site that caters to the survivalist type.
4. We have a very Narcissistic group. No other category had as few "lows". Many people scored high or very high in this group and more people scored moderate than low.
5. Obsessive-Compulsive Disorder is split. Half scored moderate, the other half low. So half the members are somewhat Obsessive-Compulsive. Overall, no one socred very high in that group.
6. A surprising number of Avoidants. 4 people are very highly avoidant and 7 are highly avoidant. That's a huge number considering that only 38 people took the test (and scored a valid result, very high in everything is impossible and Aldente's was not factored in)
7. Histrionic was another popular one. Only one very highly Histrionic person, but 7 highly Histrionics. I'm not sure what to make of that.
8. Although several had anti-social leanings, most scored low in this category and there were only few moderates. This site is not made up of highly anti-social people. Which is fascinating because this is The Internet! It's full of anti-social people. That's why Al Gore invented it! And yet we don't have ANYONE scoring very high in that category.
9. Schizotypal is a very common disorder on this site. Many "highs" and a few "very highs". This one had the second fewest lows. Meaning that most people on this site are at least somewhat Schizotypal.
10. A high Schizoid bias as well. Many "highs" in this category. This makes sense to me because...see number 8. I would have expected far more anti-social people when you look at the number of Schizoids...
And lastly, #11, paranoid. This site is full of paranoid people. Paranoid had more "very highs" than any other disorder. However, it is not distributed evenly. We should expect to see twice as many "highs" as "very highs" and twice as many "moderates" as "highs", etc. But I'm not seeing that...
So some of the survivalists are pushing the paranoid bar way up in comparison to the general population.
I'll need more data in order to come up with a better analysis. But I think, so far, this is pretty good.
