$this->bbcode_second_pass_quote('PenultimateManStanding', 'W')hat happened to that great gal who was so peak oil aware, ayoob? You were going off to homestead or something some months back. Did she go by the wayside like all the others? Man, that last post of your's was so distressing and ugly. Nasty! Perhaps if you read this you'll say, 'just cynical humor'. Well I'm not laughing.
She's still here, plans are still operational and proceeding as planned.
True, it's distressing and ugly, but sometimes the truth is distressing and ugly. Sometimes people get cold and can't get warm. Deep down, I am really as pessimistic as that post was. I don't know many people who have personally been deprived of anything for very long.
My one brush with poverty was fairly short-lived. I spread stolen peanut butter on a loaf of white bread I bought, and made potato soup at home. That lasted for maybe two months. It really sucked counting out pennies to see how many potatoes I could afford for the week. Being hungry, even for just a little while, that'll do things to you.
I distinctly remember riding my bicycle past my car on my way to work 'cause I couldn't afford the gas. See, this is coming back, and it's never going to go away.
Quibbling over whether Sprott is calling for the peak in 05 or 07 is just so much hot air unless you're really rich or totally self-sufficient already. When you are hungry, there is only "now" and it never changes. So when does that show up? 05 or 07? Whatever.
I had a great time with my friends last night, though, and can't wait to see them again. I had some fresh-baked chocolate cupcakes for them, and they had a glass of wine for me, and I saw another friend I hadn't seen in years, and we all played with a couple of dogs.
