If I understand it correctly...Aaron said they tried to put a "Google Peak Oil" bumper sticker in the PeakOil.com Cafepress store, but it was auto-rejected by the Cafepress censors.

Probably for the use of "google".

They don' t allow the use of other people's trade marks, even though "to google" has become an english verb. *laugh*

Explain this web site:

I think the censors don't auto-reject graphics of the word "google." The product is "Sticker (Bumper)"

I made my own by playing around with an image of the Heinberg cover. Not really a sticker, but an image I taped to the rear window.

but $3.24 a piece? Can you get volume discounts?

Cafe press charges 2.99$ flat fee. I went onto team speak and asked people what to set the price at. We talked about it for awhile. One guy said 40%. I did the math and it was way too much. Other people had ideas and after discussion we set it to 0.25$ per banner.

Cafe press has something about volume discounts but we need to have a premium account for that. I have not read any of the details on their volume discount deals yet. Have you?

Oh well. Someone asked for that one so I whipped it up right quick. Perhaps cafe press made the right decision on that one. I'll change it.

Freelight that was a good idea. I used it to make the latest bumpersticker.

I hope it's ok with everyone that I put the link to peakoil.com in it.

$this->bbcode_second_pass_quote('lawnchair', 'I') still really like the "Ghawar is Dying" meme. Very subtle. But, I have some Saudi acquaintances (grad students, not oil related), and they understood the implication of that statement immediately.

I like that too. I wrote it down, I don't see a good way to use it right now, but will think more about it.

$this->bbcode_second_pass_quote('mgibbons19', 'S')ave a Soldier - Ride a bike!

Thinking about it a second time, I think I'll be very careful about invoking the image of our soldiers. You never know who is going to see it and how they are going to take it. What if it's a widow, how would this message make her feel? These people sacrifice enough, not need to add to their burden.

Unless there is a truely positive message, I'm going to shy away from mentioning our troops.

$this->bbcode_second_pass_quote('Claudia', '')$this->bbcode_second_pass_quote('', 'A') safer option to me seems a "Google Peak Oil" button on your jacket. Whatever happened to buttons? I wouldn't wear a button either, but I'm an uptight conformist.

What energy crisis? then a big happy face and the link to peakoil.com

;)

I just love the irony of using a happy face to tell people about the end of the world as they know it.

How about selling a box of 10 or 25 bumper stickers at a flat amount? You could discount the number of bumper stickers in that.

Is there an amount that you are interested in? Right now cafepress handles all logistics and payment issues. I can do it, but investing in the infrastructure to do so is not of interest unless I know there are people that want the product.

I absolutely 100% agree and understand. In fact, it breaks my heart that there are kids and fathers over there right now dying for my "freedom." I can't say how much it pisses me off honestly. These folks are not dying for my freedom to talk smack in the college classroom, though that's one of the freedoms I appreciate most. They are pawns sacrificed simply to position ourselves for the global showdown over energy the next few years. I just wish our fearless leaders would stop sacrificing soldiers in my name.
