$this->bbcode_second_pass_quote('Cid_Yama', 'I') am a signatory on the Giving Pledge. My will directs the creation of a foundation to use my wealth to alieviate suffering. ALL my wealth. I have no heir.

Giving Pledge
$this->bbcode_second_pass_quote('', 'T')he Giving Pledge is a campaign to encourage the wealthiest people in the United States to make a commitment to give most of their money to philanthropic causes. The campaign specifically targets billionaires and was made public in 2010 by the two wealthiest men in the United States, billionaires Warren Buffett and Bill Gates.

The official website states that it "is an effort to invite the wealthiest individuals and families in the United States to commit to giving the majority of their wealth to philanthropy."

link

But alieviating suffering isn't enough. The industrialists must be stopped from turning this nation into a giant sweatshop and destroying the American people.

Right now they are trying to break the working class and make them second class citizens. No less. You are already hearing talk of limiting voting rights, and they are already targeting public education.

They want ignorant, illiterate serfs with no means of improving their condition.

This is not the America I was born in. This is more than evil.

The Healthwell foundation is helping me. :)

No doubt, if we could only be sure it would get to the right people istead of funding 2.5 wars or big oil subsidies.

Can't believe doomers don't understand that there is no government money for all this keeping the sick and old alive when they are past due for a dirt nap. Better they die now and spare the rest of us their whining when the die-off gets down to business. All health care is local and it starts with the family and will end there. Leeches and the lazy will be better out of the gene pool.

But there's 700 billion available to give people like me who don't need it, tax breaks, and billions more to give for free to oil companies. And billions more for big Agriculture. Moron.

You obviously have a sickness in your soul.

Could be just attention seeking, or an unconscious cry for help. Possibly an abusive childhood, or some mental affliction coming from living too long in some old red neck hell?

America is still a free country, run right out and write a check to pay for whatever life saving services you think any particular person deserves. This being America, just don't expect everyone else to think the same way you do.

 So the big bad rich industrialists want to make impoverished serfs out of the middle class? That would mean that these serfs would no longer have the means to buy the products and services that the industries produce. Not a very good plan bye the looks of it. Are you guys sure they really want to make us serfs?

It’s the unwitting conundrum of capitalism. The ever quest to increase sales, while lowering the bottom line thereby maximizing profits. Like the monster that starting to eat itself a piece at a time until eventually it just disappeared.

They already have. Do you think people like yourself could exist without the decontruction of the educational system that has taken place since the 1970's?

Do you think we would be here without real wages remaining stagnant for the last 40 years for the majority of working Americans while prices rose?

Do you think that could have happened without the attacks and legislation
weakening Unions?

It is very clear to those of us who have lived long enough to witness it. To young punks like you, you don't know any better.

You fight for your chains, because you are too ignorant to recognize that is what you are doing.

Excellent response! The Catch-22 of what America is supposed to be!

However, American history of chock a block full of not giving a rats behind about the aboriginals, each other (Go Rebs!), other countries (remember the Maine!), or have any tendency to hold back when offended (did the victims of Hiroshima glow in the dark before they died, or did they just die?) and NONE of it had anything to do with decency, love for our fellow man, universal health care, or whatever the more altruistic among us might hope for.

But it is nice to think that there are people out there who wish we had taken the more Socialist path of, say, the Europeans. As of late they are a nice and gentle folk without much ability to dispense much more than a furrowed brow when confronted with the reality of the world we live in. Of course, part of the reason they can afford to be such a nice and gentle folk is because...well...we are who we are, and we...ain't them.

You don't know what you are talking about.

I was born in 1943. I lived in the kind, respectful, caring and righteous America. It did exist. It still exists in the hearts of most Americans. It has only been since the 1980's that the evil has robbed us of our America. We intend to take it back.

By voting in war-mongers like Obama?

He makes Bush look like a piker when it comes to war. Good luck with all that consensus building Cid. I see how well it worked out for you guys in the 2010 elections. The best thing that could happen is continued divided government and gridlock. And that is what I'm voting for.

That just proves my point. Fighting for your own chains, because you were denied a proper education that would have allowed you to see that what you are doing is working against your own best interests.

You are a product of the indoctrination that took it's place.

Made you a good little serf. Maybe they'll even let you hold the whip over your fellow serfs.

Now bend down and kiss the feet of your Master. He may even throw you a scrap from the table.

When I took my oath of office, it was to protect the Constitution against enemies both foreign and domestic. Well, the enemy is in our midst. This is not my vision of America, and I'll wager it's not yours.

The fact that you predicate America's greatness on a welfare program speaks volumes. Whatever happened to individualism, pulling oneself up by his bootstraps?
