I wonder if any of you have thought out this desperate need by some to uncover some diabolical scheme and link this tragedy to the Tea Party? Recognize it for what it is. The under current of this passion is a psychological need to paint the Tea Party as evil, as an enemy of the state. The underlying wish here is for the state to do something about those evil right wingers and the Tea Party.
History has shown us that the first step in the rush towards genocide is the psychological process of dehumanizing the target population. It is necessary to depict them as evil, as less than human. Only after this thought process has been successfully completed can the mind justify the coming atrocity.
Reason has no place in this process. It is purely emotional. Making logical factual arguments is spitting in the wind. I know this but I must try, for if the better angles of our nature fail and the Tea Party and its supporters are successfully depicted as enemies of the state, the result will be genocide and civil war.
First off, nut cases are not unique to the right. Here you have a teacher’s union praying for the death of a governor.
http://articles.cnn.com/2010-04-09/us/t ... s?_s=PM:USSecond, it is a stretch to connect this idiot to any particular political persuasion. In fact, a review of his rants reveals an individual that plays with logic traps. He admires both the communists and the fascists.
Third, gun abolitionists must get a grip. This nation was born out of an attempt on the part of the central government to disarm the population. The current government exists because of that struggle. Any attempt to disarm the citizens of the United States would be illegitimate and would spark a revolution.
Fourth, the current government has little to fear from small arms. There are hundreds of combat aircraft that are privately owned. Private citizens are flying around the country in heavy bombers. There are hundreds of artillery pieces that are privately owned. There are thousands of legally owned machine guns in private hands. There are millions of privately owned rifles, shotguns and pistols in circulation. All of this fire power has resulted in precious little mayhem. It is simply impossible to round up and confiscate all of these weapons. Millions will be hidden and the attempt will spark a revolution.
Fifth, the most successful weapon deployed against our military and our civilian population in the last thirty years has not been a firearm of any sort. It has been an improvised explosive device. Tim McVeigh has been the most successful of our home grown terrorists. His weapon of choice was a truck load of fertilizer.
These devices are manufactured using common household items. Their components are so common and necessary to our everyday lives they are impossible to regulate. Unless you are willing to confiscate every outhouse, lock up every pound of sugar, and eliminate iron rust, the potential to build bombs will always be with us.
Gun confiscation is a placebo given to a frightened population by a power seeking politician. Playing in to his scheme will plunge the nation into the heart of darkness.
