What exactly has gone wrong, and when and why? The open, democratic world order based on egalitarian rights and the rule of law — liberalism, for lack of a better term — is under increasing pressure. The signs, serious and less so, are everywhere.
The trend has now hit so many nations that the explanation has to be global. Social media are frequently cited as a driving force, but I would like to consider an alternative or perhaps complementary possibility for the breakdown of liberalism: As World War II and the Cold War recede in our collective memory, people in the West are simply becoming less cooperative.
Think back to the years during and after World War II. Western leaders created an unprecedented array of multilateral institutions, including NATO, the World Bank, the IMF, the Bretton Woods system, the United Nations, and what later became the World Trade Organization. These institutions found widespread levels of support both at home and abroad, and they persisted.
After the end of the war, there was a general (and correct) sense that international cooperation had been crucial to the Allies’ victory, and that it would be necessary moving forward. World War II affected the lives of so many people, in most Western countries, that this feeling was deep and widespread. Furthermore, the ideas of the “populist right,” which in some ways resembled the now-discredited views of the Axis powers, were not very appealing.
And then the Cold War came, giving these basic cooperative instincts a second lease on life. The Soviet Union and China seemed like dangerous nations with malevolent intentions, and their rise strengthened the cooperative tendencies of the West all the more. In the mid-1970s, “America First” would have seemed like a crazy strategy, and the U.K. was joining what is now called the European Union rather than leaving it. Meanwhile, utterly demonizing one’s domestic political opponents was considered bad form; the real villains were abroad, and some measure of bipartisanship was needed to beat them.
In due time, however, as those who led and fought World War II died and the threat of communism faded, so has the notion of an external enemy. There is no external “ism” — such as communism or fascism — against which liberalism can so readily be defined. China remains a geopolitical issue, but is not seen as a direct threat aside from some parts of Asia and the Pacific.
In other words, it could be that the fractious and increasingly nationalistic politics of today are how things naturally are — and the anomaly is this decades-long period of cooperation and harmony.
This is not exactly reassuring. But if you look at the partisan, controversy-laden, personality-intense, and often stupid American politics of much of the 19th century, it seems plausible. Without the presence of strong external enemies, cooperation breaks down.
There is another explanation for the rise in anti-liberal sentiment: immigration. Through a series of historical accidents, it was kept off the table as a major issue for many decades. The U.S. had choked off immigration in 1920, and at first the liberalization of the 1960s did not have much of a visible impact on the American population. In those early decades after the Immigration and Naturalization Act of 1965, many poor nations were so poor and unfree that it wasn’t easy to leave them.
As for Europe, in-migration was too small to make much of a political impact. For a while in the 1960s and 1970s, the bigger story was emigration, due to high taxes, from countries such as the U.K. and Sweden. The presence of the Iron Curtain also blocked some of the routes and sources that enable some migration to Western Europe today.
In a democratic society where there simply isn’t much immigration, it is much harder for nationalists and populists to use it as an issue. But today much of the West has seen high immigration for 20 years or more, giving nationalist and populist forces a major talking point. Even if most of the population is broadly pro-immigration, perhaps a core of 15 to 20 percent will not be. With that base, a movement of counterreaction can have real political impact.
The implication of all this? It’s as clear as it is depressing: Nationalism and populism aren’t going away anytime soon.

“The trend has now hit so many nations that the explanation has to be global.”
Well said.
I would use “civilizational” in place of “global” because the problem is not the globe, it is the civilization on the globe.
This is nothing new:
“In the Study Toynbee examined the rise and fall of 26 civilizations in the course of human history, and he concluded that they rose by responding successfully to challenges under the leadership of creative minorities composed of elite leaders. Civilizations declined when their leaders stopped responding creatively, and the civilizations then sank owing to the sins of nationalism, militarism, and the tyranny of a despotic minority. Unlike Spengler in his The Decline of the West, Toynbee did not regard the death of a civilization as inevitable, for it may or may not continue to respond to successive challenges. Unlike Karl Marx, he saw history as shaped by spiritual, not economic forces” …
Even if a billion people know this, they are outnumbered 7-10 to one (How To Identify The Despotic Minority – 2).
Evidence based analysis is not popular, it is only correct.

When and Why the World Went Wrong
“The world went wrong”, well according to Bloomberg and its associates that is, which means good news for the rest of the world.
Keep dancing Putin..You are on the deep states shit list..And they always take care of business..They are going to nip this populist movement and make an example out of him..
Look how angry our local representative millimind of The Tribe is, with foam on the lips, hurling death threats in the direction of the nemesis of the NWO: Putin and Xi.LOL
And since we are living in a Darwinian world, it simply means that millimind is cornered and losing, something his fellow tribal Bloomberg has been admitting for some time now:
https://www.bloomberg.com/view/articles/2017-09-27/america-s-new-world-order-is-officially-dead
And then the Cold War came, giving these basic cooperative instincts a second lease on life. The Soviet Union and China seemed like dangerous nations with malevolent intentions
Unbelievable hypocrites! The USSR and to a lesser extent China were the Allies against the Axis. Without them the US would never have won. The US had allied itself to the USSR (de facto since 1933) when the communist crimes had reached a zenith.
WW2 was nothing but a US global coup d’etat, a global power grab, enabled by an immense oil-fueled economy of 29% global GDP for the US and 29+13+11+5=58% global GDP for the Allies, if you add US, USSR, UK and France together. The cornered Axis, cornered from the beginning, had 11+6+5=22%. And when the war was over, the US and USSR organized a show trial to plant the lies with which they could justify their assault.
The intent was to incorporate the entire planet into the US empire. Bloomberg admits it is not going to happen. Fine. The only question remains: how to apply euthanasia to the empire and liquidate it before it can blow up the entire planet.
There is another explanation for the rise in anti-liberal sentiment: immigration.
It is THE major explanation. The attempt was to create a global US empire based on the kosher-minted word “racism”. Americans like Davy, boat, millimind, makati and several others, hurl that acquisition against everybody 24/7 who would prefer to have a world with borders in place, but the word is losing strength. It has been used too often. In fact most normal people are “racist”, meaning they have a preference for their own kind [*]. This sentiment is by no means limited to white people. Japanese, Chinese, Koreans, Arabs, blacks, they all have a little fire inside that is burning for their own kind. They know who they are, where Americans, all with an immigrant background, have a weak sense of identity… because they were never enabled to grow one, which takes several centuries.
George Soros his Open Society program is stalling. America is no longer generally seen as a beacon of hope, apart for those from the third world. Even Americans begin to long to live in white society, their society, which should be their birth-right, but that is deprived for them, because the tribe of millimind is too strong and constitutes the backbone of the deep state.
Until they grow a pair.

In other news:
“In spite of American objections, The Philippines is continuing discussions with Russia regarding the purchase of submarines as part of President Rodrigo Duterte’s drive to modernize the Philippine navy….
Duterte also reiterated a previous criticism when he said that the US was selling The Philippines old, under-maintained and sub-par equipment….
“It’s hard for you to say we are friends. We are friends but remember we are friends because you made us a colony years ago. It was not a friendship agreed upon”….
… if The Philippines does purchase the submarines from Russia, the US could very easily sanction Manila….
While the US remains a major trading partner with The Philippines, for the United States, The Philippines has always been more about its strategic location than about its economic potential. This is indeed one of the reasons why recent decades have seen little US interest in developing the civilian economy of The Philippines. The fact of the matter is that the US is content with a poor but politically stable Philippines in order to suit its regional interests which are aimed squarely against China….
Should the US impose sanctions against The Philippines, Duterte is the kind of leader who might just tell the US that it can no longer exercise usage rights over strategic military facilities in The Philippines….
Because Duterte has positioned himself in a position to attach multiple strong economic and military powers to The Philippines, the US risks losing the former colony for generations to come if it overreacts to Duterte’s desire to pursue dialogue with Russia over the submarine deal. In this sense, Duterte has been able to do what few leaders of more powerful countries have been able to get the United States to do – sit up, take notice and act cautiously rather than on impulse.”

“White” society is a thing of the past. Long gone. Never to return. Get over it.
It isn’t. Not in Eastern Europe, not in Italy, not in Spain, not in Russia.
The white race once existed in India, of all places until its downfall, from where it moved on. To Russia, Europe, America, Australia.
We are definitely living in a period of decline of the white race. We will have to retreat from Australia, parts of North-America. But that doesn’t mean our ultimate downfall. Life contracts, in order to prepare for a next period of expansion. The damage done to us by millimind’s Marxist tribe is immense, but we will recover from that. Imperialism is in our blood. We are builders and discoverers.
The next empire will be in deep space.

What a dumbass propaganda piece. Propaganda for Neo-liberalism for the world the West wants people to believe in. It was never a “open, democratic world order based on egalitarian rights and the rule of law “. It is and was a myth. Because we are talking about the entire planet. Are we not? The institutions cited in the article created after WWII are and were deeply undemocratic. They enforce the hegemony of Corporations and the Western brand of Capitalism with the Usury Lending systems as its main driving force and form of exploiting and subjugating whole regions into the Capitalistic system. Nothing egalitarian about that. Then to say nationalism and immigration are different sources of problems is again so limited and inaccurate. It is pure economics. When people cannot live a decent existence where they are, they will migrate. And the nationalism is simply a reaction to the systemic exploitation and looting of countries under the international economic system. Done mostly by rich countries against poor ones. And finally, the author of this article simply ignores the fundamental driver now of all issues which is the overpopulation overshoot of our planetary environment and its degradationa and depletion which affects every sphere of human concern.

You are confused onlooker. In present day America the rich ARE the Marxists. Rich oligarch America that is George Soros.
What is a Marxist?
Somebody who opines that the entire world, including all races and religions, should be part of a single power structure, preferably, but not necessarily centered around Washington. And of course that power structure should be owned by the Marxists.
In the USSR of former fame, the Marxists were economic egalitarians. But that economic model of central planning and distributed wealth failed miserably (nobody wants to work for an abstract collective with zero returns) and hence economic Marxism failed.
But the Marxist drive to unite the entire world in a single empire didn’t go under with the demise of the USSR. The Marxists in the US had a second trick in their sleeves and that is racial Marxism/egalitarianism (“cultural Marxism” aka multiculturalism). These new Marxists tolerate (huge) differences in wealth, but what they don’t tolerate is “racism”, that is the universal drive of separate groups to live autonomous, segregated lives. This drive applies to Japanese, Sunni’s, blacks in Zimbabwe and South-Africa, Turks, Kurds, Dutch, Scottish, even Catalans, North-Italians, etc, etc.
But these Marxist oligarchs in the US since the sixties think they can have it all. And if you want to unite the entire world in a single power structure, owned by said oligarchs, you need to reprogram individuals world-wide, using oligarch-owned media, to distribute the egalitarian message. And invite them to the US.
Bloomberg represents pure oligarch interests. What is becoming clear, from this article and earlier ones, is that they begin to give up on global empire. But that doesn’t mean at all they have given up on America. They intend to complete the racial revolution, started in 1965, in that hapless, clueless country, although temporarily put on hold by Trump, and make whitey electoral powerless by creating facts through mass immigration from the third world, all intentional.
The US empire is almost over, the owners have admitted defeat, witnessing this article. But Americans should not cheer too early, because for them the real nightmare is about to begin: living in a neo-USSR as a demonized and despised once-majority. (((millimind))) and his crew are ready to make life miserable for you, using third world import as a weapon against you.

Democracy basically doesn’t exist, other than perhaps in Switzerland, where they have binding referendums or other small countries with multi-party systems.
You deny the existence of the deep state because you do not want us to talk about it. You do not want others to put a yellow star of David onto your beloved neocon deep state, who according to you is preparing a nuclear first strike against Russia, so now all of a sudden the deep state does exist and carries out 9/11 false flags, as you also admitted.
And finally I am NOT a conservative. There is nothing worth “conserving” about this western Marxist shit-hole, that deserves to be destroyed from the ground up.
What is needed is an all-Eurasian coalition to team up and cut out the cancer. And you need a good shower, you stink.

“Patriot or warmonger?”

I think some people serve their country in the military with bravery and honor and believe in what they are fighting for, and even if I think they are making a mistake I respect them. I don’t think McCain was one of them. He is also partly responsible for ruining millions of lives across the world, in cluding those of honorable US soldiers, sailors, and marines. I consider McCain a traitor because his decisions have helped cause irreparable damage to the USA, and any truly patriotic US citizen will be glad he is gone, IMO.
