So much crap has gone on in April. I'm waiting to see what happens on the 20th. That's Hitler's birthday. Columbine, Waco and now this.

There definitely does seem to be something about April. It's an early month of Spring. One would think that it should be a joyous time.

April should be joyous, but I would imagine that nothing is more infuriating to a sociopath than to see such emotion and to know that you'll never be a part of it.

$this->bbcode_second_pass_quote('PenultimateManStanding', 'S')o much crap has gone on in April. I'm waiting to see what happens on the 20th. That's Hitler's birthday. Columbine, Waco and now this.

It's simple numbers.

Take all the crap that's ever happened, every bad event in all human history and simply divide by twelve.

In mathematical terms...

April crap = total crap / 12
Remember: 73.3% of statistics are made up
and the other 23.6% are wrong

Hogwash. You can make the same argument about any month.

Choose any month at random and I could produce an equally long list of bad events that took place.

Elementary statistics.

Another thing about April: taxes. I've seen the documentaries about how there is no law saying that income tax is legal. There's supposed to be a Supreme Court decision about this. Here's the text, 16th amendment:

The Congress shall have power to lay and collect taxes on incomes, from whatever source derived, without apportionment among the several States, and without regard to any census or enumeration.

I tend more toward Niagra's position, until I recall that I was born in April

I think we tend to over do these things, but on the other side is that all months are not created equal and this can weigh statistics. There is a rumor that most suicides or depression or something occurs in winter when the days are short. April is a transition month and the first good weather (showers aside) may play a role in battles being weighted there for example. Spring makes the hormones flow, exams are looming, taxes due etc etc.

April is the very very end of winter for us here. By May 1st something edible will be available from the garden but April 1st traditionally you would be looking at some tiny radish leaves comming up and thats about it. If you where living off of stored rations to survive the winters the point where it will become hardest is April.

This probably isn't the explanation because today few people live off of stockpiled food over the winter and first date of food harvest from the garden differs based on climate.
shame on us, doomed from the start
god have mercy on our dirty little hearts

And btw, Madpaddy, we took in a lot of Irish folks who were starving from the potato blight. Your postscript seems rather callous considering what America did for Ireland.
