Not to mention the worst killing spree known:
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Woo_Bum-Kon

Woo Bum-Kon (February 24, 1955 – April 27, 1982)
was a Korean police officer who carried out the worst incident of spree killing in known history,
killing 58 (including himself), and wounding 35 in Gyeongsangnam-do, South Korea.

That's a weird question. My track record is clear. There are a lot of America haters in this forum. I think I've made it pretty plain that I'm not one of them. Image

Well, there's a logical enough reason for many wars starting in April:

Snow.

Fighting wars in winter sucks - it's a strategically bad move to start one in or even at the trail end of winter.

Can't explain the other miscellaneous stuff occurring in April, though.

I'd be curious to find out if there's a similar trend for things happening in the Southern Hemisphere in September (start of our spring). If it counts for anything, my birthday is in September (and interestingly a local public holiday this year, which is rather convenient).

PMS,

Thanks for the shelter but I think my postscript stands. BTW, it#s not like the Irish didn't make a contribution to America, is it.

http://irishamericanheritage.com/Irish%20Facts.htm

An Irishman even designed the Whitehouse for crikes sake.

The Irish, Italians, Hispanics, Wasps, Poles, Greeks, Lebanese etc. are America.

BTW,

Many of the Irish immigrants who came ashore in New York who couldn't even speak English were aremd, dressed and sent straight down to fight Johnny Reb.

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Union_Army

200,000 or 9.1 % of the union army was Irish.

Hmmm, alot of the Confederate Army was Irish as well. I suppose that's the Irish for you.

$this->bbcode_second_pass_quote('', 'F')or comparison, the Confederate Army was not very diverse: 91% of Confederate soldiers were native born and only 9% were foreign-born, Irish being the largest group with others including Germans, French, Mexicans, and British.

I'll take imbalance in the serotonin levels for $500 , Alex. Who knows. Everything major in German history seems to happen on November 9th (end of WWI, Putsch, Crystal night, Fall of the Berlin Wall, etc.). History is full of surprises like this but who knows what the cosmic patterns are?

I feel sorry for him as he honestly believes there is zero hope for the future, nothing he can do to help prevent the worse from occurring.

I think he is a doomer!!! 8)

Thats it Raph, we must alienate doomerism!!!

Well, this is probably being talked about elsewhere, but you all should check out Samsam Bakhtiari's latest

The Century of Roots

I think he may be among the most poetic of doomers. He gets to me more than most.

Madpaddy, I didn't know the Irish didn't speak English. What did they speak, Gaelic ?

Dinopello,
They spoke Gaelic which is still one of the two official languages of the country. Very few people speak it as their first language now but almost everybody knows some Gaelic. The influx of foreigners has actually led to a revival in interest in Gaelic culture, music and language.

that's pretty much it. Now why couldn't I just have a normal mid-life crisis? but no, I've got to put up with knowing that everybody is screwed. The Irish, too.
