Hmmm...do you think so? English is not a Romance language like French, Italian, etc. There is little similarity between English and Spanish.
I learned English as a second language in high school in Peru. Then I attended an American university in Beirut, and then I moved to the US for a few years for grad school. If you want to pursue a graduate degree in the social sciences in the US, you'd better read and write in English as well or better than any American graduate student in your field.
Maybe in America it is uncommon, but in many Arab countries and Europe it is not unusual for people to be perfectly fluent in 2 or 3 languages.

I realize a lot of ME know english, but your english is excellent! How did you get such a good mastery of the English language if you live in Lebanon all your life? Have you been to the United States of America (aka so called leader of the free world?)
If you believe she hasn't been outside of Lebanon her entire life, then where they hell did she learn Spanish which she has demostrated many times? Mexicans aren't invading that nation as well are they???

I know this is hard to accept for most English speaking people, but it is fairly common for most educated, professional people in other parts of the world to be proficient in at least 3-4 other languages. English is of course the most common, and for good reason. I have one client (Advanced English Conversation) that is fluent in German, Russian, Norwegian (which means she can get around in Sweden and Denmark) and English as well as her native language of Polish.
I had group lessons at an international company where the receptionist could effortlessly answer each incoming call in either Polish, English, French, and Russian.
Speaking languages other than English, is only miraculous to native English speakers. For everyone else, it is a fact of life...

, I'd think you're bothered by my posts. $this->bbcode_second_pass_quote('', 'I') think that there are good people in every country on this earth, that just want to live 'normal' lives, but are somehow prevented from doing so by the 'others' that are more interested in such things as power and control.
Yeah. I totally agree with you on this.
PS: And what is an American doing in Polland and still watching T&A entertainment at the age of 30+? (disclaimer: I'm wild guessing here).
