Ah, the socialists. Take it from the doers and give to the slackers.
I just read today that 1/2 of the population of my county is on some sort of welfare. AND local farmers need to hire illegal mexicans to get the job done because everybody else is busy collecting the handouts. Oh how I'm looking forward to this poor-folks revolution getting rid of the rich who pay for all the hand-outs. Means they finally have to go back to work.

They are loading up their lifeboats for the sinking of the Titanic. When they stop giving all those people their checks then the real problems start. The rich are trying to store enough wealth up to make it through the coming storm. Good luck.

We are in for some interesting times, that's for sure...

There's that bizarre idea that the poor don't work and the rich do. The myth of the welfare bum is alive and well.

Not sure how someone born into a wealthy family or who makes their money speculating on Wall Street can be considered a "doer." More like parasites sucking the blood of those of us who do actual productive work.

As for farmwork, I work on a farm full-time, though it's a little slow right now thanks to the unrelenting rain, hence my ability to surf the net on a Friday. I work about a thousand times harder than any of the parasites who use their inherited money to make more money in the Wall Street casino. They make millions doing nothing but sitting on their ass, and the fedgov bends over backwards to give them all sorts of tax breaks to encourage their parasitism. I get paid a whopping $9.25/hr to slog through the fields day after day to grow the food that feeds my little corner of the world. The owner of the farm makes even less than I do. So you can take your "doer" vs. "slacker" bullshit and shove it where the sun don't shine.

We have a plutocracy in this country, no doubt, a political system that has been completely captured by the ultra-wealthy. Class warfare is rampant, waged (and won) almost exclusively by the rich against everyone else. Socialism for the rich, capitalism for everyone else.
A garden will make your rations go further.

Many people are wishing today that the "doers" on Wall Street were doing a bit more slacking since their doing messed things up pretty bad, requiring a massive bailout (wealth transfer) from the taxpayer slackers.

I like the term captured here because it is really appropriate. Anyone who doesn't know what regulatory capture is should have a read of the following http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Regulatory_capture. We have not just regulatory, but an almost complete government capture by the ultra-wealthy and it's not even hidden anymore. In most countries paying for government favours is called corruption, but in America it is called lobbying and campaign contributions.

Like most things, it's really a matter of specifics. If your Squire is kind and provides room and board for your labor, doesn't work you or your children too hard, and maybe provides a christmas goose then maybe life's not so bad.

if the capitalist class hadn't driven its workers to beggars wages, they wouldn't need such handouts! remove the supports and the workers would fall below the level needed to maintain their very existence. in effect, capital would destroy its own slave cadre. it is thus incompetent as a system! even the plantation owner under the economic system of slavery doesn't work against himself in such a way.

You raise a good point, but global corporations have developed a collective fantasy that they can now move offshore after using up the local capital. Which by the way is where 60% of their profits are now coming from. They perceive capitalism as infinite as the planet's resources surely must be.

You have to remember one thing, corporations are not people and they are not interested in people as workers are just an expense to them.

Yes, but if the "defenders of the Constitution" are part of that force set out to destroy the American people, they aren't going to do much defending, are they?

You'd think groups like the Constitution Party and the Tea Party would be more upset about the takeover of America by multinational corporations. But they aren't, they actually seem to be defending the multinationals.

They probably won't need to do much differently, since they tend to own vast amounts of real property (land, factories, etc) as well as money. It's just been easier in recent years for them to accumulate - they generally don't need private armies like they used to do.

Most of the bankster families already own vineyards in the Clubmed and or other WSHTF bugout area valuable properties (plus stash of PM, art, guns and what have you). If they hold on to it, with the help of mercenary friends, they don't have to ask these questions, they are all set, for the return of some form of rehashed neo-feudalism. Obviously most of the wannabies and lower echelons formely associated with these circles (incl. political class - marionettes) won't make it, that's the pitchfork, street-revenge material.

First thing will be to foreclose on your property and seize it since you won't have enough chickens or shiny rocks to pay your mortgage. Then, they will put you to work raising chickens and polishing rocks for them in exchange for the privilege of living on their land.
