Haliburton CEo selling stocks

Unread postby erb » Tue 31 Jan 2006, 12:03:39

i just read a report that haliburton has the best year of its history in 2005 and the CEO is exercising alot of his stock options, plus...

Earlier in the week, the Department of Homeland Security's Immigration and Customs Enforcement awarded Halliburton a new contract valued at up to $385 million over five years.

The contract calls for KBR to build and operate new detention facilities in case of an "emergency influx of immigrants" into the country.

or for disgruntled citezens obviously

Seems like it would be a lot cheaper to simply prevent the influx with a large steel barrier.

But wait, that would cut in to KBR profits.

sorry for being paranoid, but when they announce they are building large cages to hold people in the event of an emergency, i get nervous. i don't do well with cages.

as tommy said, wouldn't a fence make more sense if its immigrants that are the problem? unless you are planning on putting american citizens in the cages, then its perfectly rational. then you just need a "situation" to "happen" and people would flight to get into any camps for the illusion of normalicy they would offer.

and anyone who doesn't go to the camps logicly *must* be a terrorist , right?

I was going to post this article earlier. Very conspicuous indeed. I wonder if these camps will once again be placed in remote areas of the U.S. (Wyoming comes to mind), far from the lights, cameras and muffled screams of the interred.

ERB

Do you have a link to the alleged KBR contract to build detention facilities? If there is such a contract, it would be a public record. Seeing is believing.

The AP picked it up. Here's just one of the links:

Well I am paranoid for good reason, we are not getting the truth and this government cares nothing about citizens. Halliburton serving up sewer water to the troops in Iraq. Now they want cages built in the US.

Actually all joking aside that looks like a pretty cool gig if you're the hunting and fishing type. And most of the folks who go there probably have $$$ so maybe you could parlay it into something relatively lucrative.

Best,

Hey All,

Sounds like jobs created to use as payoffs to political cronies. Vote for a bill favorable to Haliburton your son/daughter gets a nice cushy job for the season.

I agree that could end up as a very lucrative stepping stone if you play your cards right since you may be well connected. But the requirements for the job appear very corny to me. Any idea what the pay is?

Jack/Ayoob: Have you 2 invested in Halliburton yet?

Unread postby MattSavinar » Sun 07 May 2006, 19:48:23

So you subscribe to the Jay Hanson dark side theory of human nature. I won't believe you've really gone over to the "dark side" until I see you investing in Halliburton. Yeah, that Halliburton, Dick "Darth Vader" Cheney's Halliburton. That's my litmus test.

Me? I'm way too much of pansy to do that. I'd just feel dirty and wrong doing it. So I can't and won't. I know that dirty feeling of course is not about "morals" so much as it's really my genetic-subconscious alogrithims saying "you'd lose way more social capital among your tribe, probably all of it in fact and be an outcast, then you'd gain in financial capital." So the genetic subconscious axis throws up some emotions to prevent me from doing it.

But you two say you've gone to the dark side full force, lets see you prove it. Ayoob, I understand you're busting your hump working ridiculous hours to get your nursing credentials (smart move I think) so you can be excused if you haven't sold your soul to Dick Cheney yet.

Jack? Are you or are you not now Dick Cheney's personal ____ ?
Best,
Matt

P.S. In case anybody can't tell, this post is intended to stir up some discussion of human nature. I'd post it on Jay's list but he's retired it for the time being.

Jack is advocating being a psychopath. I don't see the relationship with human nature. Psychopaths are not the norm yet.
