So what again were you saying?

And you didnt think I was following along.

Neener neener.

So which one am I supposed to be worried about??

1) The aliens and crop circles
2) Planet X
3) Crossing the Dark Rift
4) Peak Oil

And how am I suppose to get ready for this

1) Do nothing and hope for the best
2) Throw away my mechanical clock and get my spiritual affairs in order for my day of reckoning
3) Learn to be more local and self sufficient. Get my material affairs in order for the end of life as we know it

But that doesnt necessarily jive with what the Mayans believe does it? I should be getting my spiritual affairs in order in preparation for crossing the Dark Rift and a new way of life I thought. The whole End of an Age thing......

Now I'm confused. So the Sumarians were concerned by Planet X while tyhe Mayans were concerned with the crossing of the Dark Rift?

One thing you have to wonder is if we have a 10th planet with a strongly elliptical orbit that crosses the inner solar system which can affect terrestrial tides, how come it doesn't cause detectable effects in sedimentation? You know, something more rigorous and measurable than pondering the meaning of ancient stone carvings and myths? Why don't we see bands at constant intervals?

The global flooding myths all originate in the early Holocene, when ice sheets were still melting - that's a more likely source for these stories, backed up by geologic evidence.

Ok Ok I figured it out let it be known that I figured it all out.
This what happens, when Nibiru comes past the earth it rains for 40 days and 40 night because Nibiru is a ice planet and as it's getting closer to the sun that it heats up and starts to melt (meaning parts of the planet breaks off and as they enter the earths atmosphere the ice melts/burns up some just into vapors but there is so much ice that alot makes it through an turns into rain. Ofcourse it takes about 40 days for it to completely past earth.
So there you have it , I want my Nobel prizes now haha ;)

You need to be down by the South Pole and have access to a huge infrared telescope for starters.

Because reality is too boring. It's attractive to "retcon" old mythologies by infusing them with a little science fiction. The ancient past is so far beyond the veil of mystery that we can just fill in the blanks however we wish.

One day there will be so many houses, that people will be bored and will go live in tents. "Why are you living in tents ? Are there not enough homes ?" "Yes there are, but we play this Economy game". Now it's "Crisis" time !Too many houses! Yes, we are insane!

When it gets close enough, everyone will (have) see it. Remember, every 3,600 years it makes it's presence known.

I was afraid nobody did see that post. Glad someone did.

There are reasons to suspect that there is something beyond Pluto. Some think this is another planet (planet X). However, the most logical candidate for this something is not a planet; it is the Kuiper Belt.

Have fun!

I'll make a new thread about this if it gets ignored, here is an article written by a REAL solar physicist for Universe Today, and it does a good job of explaining how this woowoo came about:

http://www.universetoday.com/2008/05/25 ... -planet-x/

To Summarize: Nibiru doesn't exist.

Time to drive a stake into this.

Another 30 seconds worth of googling.

I dare you to read these two pages IN FULL. If you refuse to read these, then you are just cowardly protecting your fantasies. If you do read them, I don't see how you could still maintain faith in Sitchin unless you are a kook.

Even if these aren't enough, I could just pull out more and more debunking essays for you that illustrates the flaws in Sitchin's argument. At some point you have to ask yourself why it is you continue to cling to some crackpot theory which has earned no support from the scientific community. It is, in the end, because you want it to be true, not because it holds up to scrutiny. It's like creationism and all the rest.
