Should work. You just have to make sure you c&p the header info too.

To be fair, it was a G-30 and the guy showed up about 5-minutes less. He was clearly a little annoyed with himself for drawing a 1900 in round one. I used to play the mainline with 5. d4 but I like the type of play you get from 5. Nc3 better. The doubled c-pawn makes me less fearful about queenside pawn storms & supports a piece on d4.

I was surprised by gxh5 though 19. ... Qd7 was the real howler. If he'd just exchanged bishops he could've survived. 19. ... BxB QxB 20. Bf5 (to drop back to g6 if necessary & defend that square).

IM and master programmer Vasik Rajlich has allegedly "solved" the king's gambit. And claims it loses by force in all lines except 3.Be2 (which draws).

Kind of scary (I suppose it shouldn't be, certainly such computing power can be put to more constructive use to serve mankind).

Evidently his research (aided by 300 cores of computing power) vindicated Bobby Fischer's claim to have busted the King's Gambit (though obviously he couldn't have seen all possible lines perfectly).

$this->bbcode_second_pass_quote('', 'W')ell, there were a number of reasons for choosing it. One was that 50 years ago Bobby Fischer published a famous article, "A Bust to the King's Gambit", claiming to have done exactly that. I was curious to see how valid his conclusions were. Turns out they were amazingly accurate. The main line of the King's Gambit, 1.e4 e5 2.f4 exf4 3.Nf3, is indeed winning for Black. Moreover, the only winning move is 3... d6!, just as Fischer claimed. For instance the more popular 3...g5 allows White to draw after 4.h4! In fact, Fischer's main line holds up incredibly well: 3...d6! 4.Bc4 h6! 5.d4 g5! (an exclam denotes any move which gives a better theoretical result than every alternative), although some side-variations from his article do have inaccuracies.

With more and more computer power coming online, the human chess are slowly dying.. Sad.

Interesting, that the computer picks up all those moves non-obvious to human intuition. Like 3.Be2 and others. If a computer model of the future development of our civilisation could be developed - then who knows - maybe the computer could recommend us some non-obvious counter-intuitive ways to effect progress. Like "Men, stop wars, put all your investments in fusion research."

brain actually set up like a chess board$this->bbcode_second_pass_quote('', 'F')or a long time it was thought that the brain was a mass of tangled wires, but researchers recently found that its fibers are actually set up like a chess board, crossing at right-angles.
...
As the brain gets wired up in early development, its connections form along perpendicular pathways, running horizontally, vertically and transversely.

When will we see HOUDINI in official tournaments? It is known as the best chess engine but Houdini doesn't participate in official tournaments..... What is the reason behind this thing? Why Robert Houdart doesn't challenge the Rybka Cluster in a match?

Yeah? Well, you've been sitting at the chess board so long your underwear could probably walk to the laundry room and wash itself!

No longer an Expert, my rating's taken a big hit over the past few months. It's hard to stay focused on a game with so much stuff going on in the world & in my personal life.

That said, I'm going to do a 10-board simul at my favorite local chess club in South Jersey on December 2nd. Rating cap is 1600 (under-1600 players only), I'm gonna do 10-boards. $10 to get in. $10 for a draw, $25 for beating me. I'm a bit nervous.

I'm doing a simul to boost interest in the chess club, not because I think I'm all that (I'd wager I will lose at least 1 & draw a few). If it goes well we'll have a Club-Champ vs. Club simul every year. :)

[Event "Marshall Friday Quads"]
[Date "2013.03.15"]
[Round "1"]
[White "Norris, Tony"]
[Black "opponent"]
[Result "1-0"]
[ECO "C45"]
[WhiteElo "1972"]
[BlackElo "1828"]

1. e4 e5 2. Nf3 Nc6 3. d4 exd4 4. Nxd4 Bc5 5. Nxc6 bxc6?! {Main line is Qf6
and white doesn't have time to save the knight as black threatens mate} 6. Bc4
Ne7? 7. Bxf7+ Kxf7 8. Qh5+ Ng6 9. Qxc5 Re8 10. O-O Kg8 (10... Rxe4?? 11.
Qf5+ Qf6 12. Qxe4) 11. Bg5 Ne7 12. Nc3 Bb7 13. Rad1 d6 14. Qa3 {threatening
Qb3+ forking king & bishop} Kh8 15. Rd3 h6 16. Rh3 Qd7? 17. Qb3 Ba6 18. Rxh6+
gxh6 19. Bf6+ Kh7 20. Qf7# 1-0

My opponent was only nine years old & got off to a very poor start which allowed me a pretty easy game, I suspect in our next encounter I won't be so lucky.

I never did do that simul by the way, not enough people signed up, I may do a free one next Monday.
