We can greatly mitigate the problem ahead for us with sensible and smart energy choices. I think Al is partially right: wind power is necessary, but I also think solar, geothermal, hydro, oceanic hydro, and nuklure (sp intended) is critical. All of these together will result in cheap energy. As cheap as today? Maybe not.

















Yeah, sure, we could drop the entire budget on it and have it done in three years, or we could dump whatever is spent on gasoline and the externalized costs of autos and have it done in a decade, or by 2020 assuming the minimal estimate of the externalized costs of autos.
