$this->bbcode_second_pass_quote('Tyler_JC', 'I')s this what we're fighting about now?

A freaking label?

Can't we all just get along?

Shouldn't we be arguing about more important issues like how soon the suburban masses are going to descend into cannibalism?

...

By the way, I think my extensive post count, moderator status, and length of Peak Oil Awareness makes me worthy of this "Expert" title.

I also suggest that Experts be given certain special privileges including free tickets to PO Seminars and free parking for our electric vehicles.

I give up, Peak Oil Masters. Call me whatever you want to call me. That's what they were doing to me in elementary school, too.

How about "Rain"? That's all I really care about anymore.

A few minutes ago, after 36 days here without a drop of rain, it started raining vigorously. Then, after two minutes, IT STOPPED!!! AND NOW, TWO MINUTES LATER, THE CLOUDS ARE BREAKING UP!!

Of course not.

Meanwhile, crude oil touches $90 per barrel.

And we have the internet equivalent of a food fight.

Think how we'll fight when scarcity imposes its harsh consequences.

I'm sooooooo confused!
I don't look at the ratings-I go by the content and tone of the posts posted by the posters!
Are these changes an experiment to see how everyone reacts?
Are these changes the aftermath of a night of wild partying?
Should I back out of the room slowly and then leave the building?

What difference does a label make?

$this->bbcode_second_pass_quote('Plantagenet', 'C')ongratulations are in order to AP. [smilie=eusa_clap.gif]

I will second that.

I often disagree with AP on matters but his posts are usually well thought out. He has also shown a high resiliency when his character comes under attack after his detractors fail to damage his point.

roccman,

Did you have any respect for a new butterbar lieutenant when he came you your company just because he had shiny bars on his collar?

Neither did I.

Trophies are given, respect is earned.

I wonder if they could incorporate a status ignore so that those offended wouldn't see the expert tag. But I still don’t see what the big deal is here…

One field trip at 29 Palms we duct taped a 2nd lieuy to his cot and moved him to the front of the fireline (cold of course).

The firewatches were digging holes for days!!!

Was not an experiment.

AP needed a pat on his back so he PM's Aaron and pleaded with him for recognition.

Really funny that anit-CTs like PA and AP would buy into a CT theory about this.

Cut and paste logic just does not work folks.

A 2nd lieuy lost accountability for my fire team during one trip to 29 palms. We were to stay behind and close a minefield, and then be picked up by the last vehicle.

The last vehicle never picked us up and we were sitting in an artillery target zone just minutes away from death when a coyote hummer happened to see us and call a seize fire.

Respect it earned, not handed out with ranks.

What's even weirder than the seemingly random 'expert' designations is none of them have asked to have it removed. That's really weird.

I agree with several others here. It's just the site managers having some bizarre fun. Strange stuff, that's for sure.

Hi jbeckton,

I haven't read all the postings here or on other threads... maybe you're right. Maybe a few have. But the designation's still there and while it remains I'll just hang out with you and the rest of us commoners. Let the petty bourgeois running dogs have their threads and we'll have ours.

Well personally, I think Aaron has just made a giant ass out of himself and he has proven how little he thinks of us all.

Well, well, well...

Polarizing... isn't it?

Confirms the "rough & tumble" nature of this place in my eyes.

Man I really dig you people.

...in the good way.

I'm not trying to make PO history here, just acknowledging the significant contributions from members not always evident in post count stats. (which is automated of course)

Feel free to point out other members you think deserve expert labels... or those who don't. I acknowledge that this is an arbitrary & anecdotal value judgement, & thus of limited utility in some ways. But I also think some sort of recognition is appropriate for members who contribute above & beyond the average poster.

Could this bias new readers?

I sure hope so.

The folks I have labeled "expert" are among those from whom I have learned a great deal about this world we live in with their unique contributions of knowledge & reasoning... some over several years.

oh yeah... that reminds me... I think uNkNowN ElEmEnt deserves the expert tag.

Who else have I missed in my exhaustive survey of thousands of members of years of posting?

Your criticisms are noted.

The experiment continues...
The problem is, of course, that not only is economics bankrupt, but it has always been nothing more than politics in disguise... economics is a form of brain damage.

Threadbear wants out.

I hope she does not have to suffer too long.

We all suffer. It's part of our condition as part of life. I can't even begin to imagine hers. :)

Yes - for her to be trapped in the same box as AP has got to suck big time.

She is a free spirit...she needs to be freed.

Let's stand in soladarity for Threadbear.

Aaron realease her bro!!!

It is killing me to see her suffer.
