Saving The World . . . With Magnets!

How to save energy through both societal and individual actions.

Saving The World . . . With Magnets!

Unread postby untothislast » Thu 01 Nov 2007, 09:04:43

With the UK being once again threatened by winter energy shortfalls, I found myself looking at websites for tips on energy conservation around the home, and chanced upon the Thermoflow/Ecoflow range of products:

http://www.ecoefficiency.co.uk/page3.html

These things promise to cut domestic heating bills by 20% - by the simple expedient of strapping magnets around your fuel pipes - thus, they say, increasing fuel efficiency. Being sceptical by nature, I only have to read the word 'magnet' to suspect the worst. But as I'm no scientist - if any techno buff out there wants to explain why this device should be in every home - or, conversely, why the public shouldn't fall for these sort of scams, I'd appreciate the information.

I feel we're going to be seeing a lot of these sort of products before too long.

Must go now . . . I'm working on a pill you pop in your fuel tank to increase auto mileage by 600%.

If you believe in this

Then I have some "clean coal" technology that I want to sell to you.

It goes like this, we shall capture all the CO2 from the

coal power plant by hanging a magnetic black hole

over the smoke stack using the magnetic levitation

technology just like them fancy trains in Germany

These products are fraudulent. They do not offer the savings promised.

The pseudo-scientific marketing gibberish is just that.

Exactly. But has there ever been a better time to market fraudulent pseudo-scientific crap? As the price of oil works its way through the system, there will be a lot of people (already maxxing out on credit cards just to pay the bills) desperate enough to take the bait.
