$this->bbcode_second_pass_quote('Cynus', 'C')an anyone name a place at any time in world history where people for different cultures lived side by side peacefully? I don't mean a situation where there was a large majority of one culture and a small minority of another. I mean one where the groups were in roughly equal proportions. I ask because I am not a historian and can't think of any cases where this has happened. As I look at history it seems like wherever people of different cultures exist in rooughly equal numbers there is terrible violence and separatism.
Plenty of places: Belgium (Flemish and Walloons), UK (Celts and Anglo-Saxons), Switzerland (French, German, Italian and Rhaeto-Romansch cultures), France (French, Basques, Bretons, Corsicans) etc., etc., etc. OK, you will always get a few hot-heads who seek "independence" or separation but, in most places, they represent only a tiny minority of the populations they try to represent.
