If you’re a doomer Dantes you’re the most well informed doomer on this board. Like you said the key is imports and just because we’re America doesn’t mean we have oil. My fear is with Cantarell and the GOM aka hurricane alley.

sad state of affairs(updated a year ago) and why I’m a doomer.

$this->bbcode_second_pass_quote('eastbay', '
')I would be even more freaked out if someone as informed and knowledgeable as Dante was NOT a doomer. I am getting a strong suspicion that more and more well-informed people in and around the oil industry are becoming increasingly doomeristic since they too MUST be aware of the same data we are. They may not publicly proclaim their doomerosity, yet there is really no other rational conclusion possible other than the conclusion that we're about to fall off a cliff due to coming energy (and therefore food) scarcities.

And the real scary part is that the sheeple have no clue of what's going to happen to them because aforementioned oil industry people are keeping their mouths shut, as well as the politicians.

It's almost as if they want a 80% quick die off so they'll be plenty of oil for them to build a sustainable energy future, so they're attempting to keep PO as much of a secret as possible. Heck, Shell US President Jon Hofmeister's bio used to state he has a farm and mill in Lancaster, PA which I pointed out here a year and a half ago. That portion of his Shell bio is now gone, but it's still here.

I think the people in the oil industry and government are actively trying to keep people in the dark so they can prepare while everybody else goes about business as usual and ends up dead.

Meanwhile, oil is hanging around over $120 during the overnight session, at $120.18 currently. Do I hear $125 by Friday? All MEND has to do is sneeze right about now.

A quick non-nuclear non-bioweapon non-destruction of the critical infrastructure die off would be optimal. Well optimal if you're in that surviving 20%.

The more doomer you get the more you decide that a large number of people have to die for the survivors to have any chance at all.

I don't think it's fair to call Dante a doomer, as this term looks dogmatic, politic, or anything you want related to faith.

I became myself a doomer not because I would love this world to collapse (even if I admit it's quite exciting to project myself for a second in the Mad Max movies or something close from), but because I was simply driven by logic.

The future will be ugly, I'm afraid to starve to death or beeing drafted for oil wars far away from my country, and much more to see my wife dying in my arms since she needs medecine to survive. My parents live in suburbs where violence becomes stronger everyday, my brother can't find a job since he came back from China, and street people are more and more whyning about how expensive is everything beside plasma screens...

My great chance is that I'm a public school teacher. I guess french government need us, at least to spread some propaganda to the childrens...

$120.93 - time to update the thread title already! :)

Crude hit a new record in the afternoon over here, and it looks like consolidation just below $120 at the moment.

While the Nigerian attacks crimp supply, the ISM report unexpectedly says the economy is growing. Classic case of supply down, demand up.

$this->bbcode_second_pass_quote('', 'T')hat could result in a ``sharp correction in oil demand,'' the Goldman analysts said.

How high does it have to get before we find enough elasticity for a 'sharp correction'?

Elasticity is usually accompanied by finding a replacement for the product,

It is going to be difficult to have the 'snap back' if you have no choice but to continue to buy petrol.

I am sure that in the near future Europe will start to see a massive increase in public transport which will then force the transport providers to improve their services.

People complain at the moment that it is expensive and unreliable, but with more demand this should improve, if it doesnt there will be gov't legislation to force the improvements.

US of A will find it harder to change as the infrastructure has been dismantled over the years to ensure that cars are the only real mode of transport.

I think that this elastic band is about 4 miles long and a mile wide, it is going to take a lot of effort to make it snap

The money quote from the above Bloomberg link. Sounds like an acknowlegement of perpetual supply challenges being buffeted by incessant demand pressures.
