It's also illegal gender discrimination, according to the Minnesota Department of Human Rights.

The department charged this week that by having ladies' nights, five Twin Cities establishments denied men the right to "full and equal enjoyment" of their businesses.

"Gender-based pricing violates the [state] Human Rights Act," Commissioner James Kirkpatrick said in a statement. But even though this marks at least the second time in 16 years that the department has cracked down on the practice, it apparently has continued because bar owners aren't sure it's illegal, and enforcement clearly has been spotty.

When I was poor, in college eating Raman noodles I used to be upset that bars charged extra for me to drink just because I was a male. Now that I can afford it though, I do see the benefit of subsidizing drinks for the ladies.

Let me get this straight....

Our financial system is a cardboard cutout. Trillions of dollars are being fabricated out of midair in order in the hope that people will forget about the events of the last two years....

Our national real estate market is a complete catastrophe, is it 1 in 10 homes that are foreclosed, empty, nearly empty or in one of those situations?

Our national unemployment rate is something on the order of 25% if you count long-term unemployed, underemployed, people working three part time jobs, or a lot of 50 year old men who have given up because no one will hire them.

Many of our states, including our largest, are functionally broke. Teachers and cops are being laid off across most of the country because our so-called leaders lack the courage to go to the people and ask for more money.

Two of our three largest buildings, and one of our major cities that were destroyed in the last 10 years are still not rebuilt. Another, Detroit, is being deliberately depopulated.

We're completely unable to defend our southern border.

An environmental disaster is unfolding in the Gulf of Mexico which threatens to be unprecedented in its scope and severity, at great economic and social impact.

Two of our three major producers of automobiles are broke.

We have no more political process other than a contest to see who can run the most aggravating TV ads, and which candidate can accuse the other of having the sleaziest affair.

The infant mortality rate in our nation's capital is twice as high as it is in Havana.

We're bogged down in two endless and probably illegal wars, 12 time zones away from home, fighting people who hate us so much that 17 year old girls are blowing themselves up to take as many of us with them as possible....so that they think they will get to heaven faster.

We are literally confiscating tubes of toothpaste from 85 year old ladies at our nation's airports, but not inspecting incoming shipping containers for stinger missiles...

And yet, our legal system is involved with BS like whether or not a chick can or should get a discounted drink in a bar?

Some days you would just like to throw up.
