Feds consider searches of terrorism blogs

Feds consider searches of terrorism blogs
The Homeland Security Department may soon start scouring the Internet to find blogs and message boards that terrorists use to plan attacks in the USA. Feds,Patriot Act,Terrorism,Peak Oil

The effort comes as researchers are seeing terrorists increasingly use the Internet to plan bombings, recruit members and spread propaganda. “Blogging and message boards have played a substantial role in allowing communication among those who would do the United States harm,” the department said in a recent notice.

Homeland Security officials are looking for companies to search the Internet for postings “in near to real-time which precede” an attack, particularly a bombing. Bombings are “of great concern” because terrorists can easily get materials and make an improvised-explosive device (IED), the department said.

######I always was surprised that this "non-blog" kept open for that long..

This, probably is the true strengh of America: The Chinese are "operated", the Africans are "on their own", the Europeans are "waiting", the rest is somwhere else... America just seemingly overlooked the fact that Peak Oil is an extemly clear indicator of a limited timeline, yet tries to deal with it. Kudos! Who else is out there is dealing with "time" anyway?!

First off, nothing has happened in US for 8 years and still they have 1.5 million people on a list. now you know they arent dangerous, they havent done anything, they are average people, your probably on it also, so what is the real reason? Who would want to do the united states harm? and what does that mean? Voting for Obama?

Wow. that would make roccman a terrorist. He always warned of things just before they happened.

Using data incorrectly will catch a lot of innocent people... Hey, maybe they are not trying to catch t's so much as removing dissenting voices? makes more sense.

Peak Oil, Propaganda and the Coming Head-Fake

Always a good read, Charles Hugh opines on peak oil and media distortion....

$this->bbcode_second_pass_quote('', 'T')he propaganda machine promises us we have plentiful oil and natural gas for 100 years. They neglect to mention the cost.
Every announcement of a "new oil field with 1 billion barrels of oil" unleashes a flood of MSM propaganda about the incredible abundance of oil and natural gas.

My objections to the propaganda are founded on three questions:

Not sure I buy into his arguments but at least he says what he believes instead of dancing all around it.
$this->bbcode_second_pass_quote('Alfred Tennyson', 'W')e are not now that strength which in old days
Moved earth and heaven, that which we are, we are;
One equal temper of heroic hearts,
Made weak by time and fate, but strong in will
To strive, to seek, to find, and not to yield.

1) Did HE do the math? Not a mention of the most recent release for Orinoco sizes. Oops. Not a mention of actual growth in reserves anywhere as well, which obviously has easily balanced consumption for decades. Oops 2.
2) Yes. And either they are lying, or some new countries have joined OPEC and it hasn't been mentioned. Charles should apply Point #1.
3) More than it did yesterday. Less than it will tomorrow. Continue for a century.

All in, pretty amateur stuff.

Analyzing US Propaganda

Unread postby mattduke » Thu 01 Jul 2010, 00:13:52

$this->bbcode_second_pass_quote('', 'H')arvard Study: From 1930s-2004, NY Times called waterboarding torture in 81.5% of articles, LA Times in 96.3%. Yet from 2002‐2008, NYT did so in only 1.4% and LA Times in 4.8%. The WSJ? 1.6% (1 of 63 articles) and USA Today never called waterboarding torture or implied it was torture.

US Government Software to Promote Propaganda

Unread postby evgeny » Sun 13 Mar 2011, 22:56:32

The US government is offering private intelligence companies contracts to create software to manage "fake people" on social media sites and create the illusion of consensus on controversial issues.

The contract calls for the development of "Persona Management Software" which would help the user create and manage a variety of distinct fake profiles online. The job listing was discussed in recently leaked emails from the private security firm HBGary after an attack by internet activist last week.

Who (or what) do you think was behind the mysterious Jasmine Revolution in China? Or Tunisia, Egypt, Libya? US is not losing the informational war, Hillary just wants you to believe that. Next thing NSA gonna do a cyber pearl harbor and its Internet IDs for everyone. Peakoil.com probably gonna find itself on DHS ICE domain takedown list in a couple months afterwards. Internet KIll Switch? Please. The entire Internets is a military psych ops.

Unread postby mattduke » Sun 20 May 2012, 09:42:59

$this->bbcode_second_pass_quote('', 'A')n amendment that would legalize the use of propaganda on American audiences is being inserted into the latest defense authorization bill, BuzzFeed has learned.
The amendment would “strike the current ban on domestic dissemination” of propaganda material produced by the State Department and the Pentagon, according to the summary of the law at the House Rules Committee's official website.
