I walked into Blockbuster this weekend to pick up a couple flicks and "An Inconvenient Truth" was out of stock. Part of the population is receptive to what’s going on with climate change and science teachers can still choose (for now at least...) to show the video to their students they'll just have to bring it in on their own.

Well since the government has abducated it's responsibility to educate it's citizens, the schools have to get the funding from somewhere.

Sorry, someone had to play devil's advocate here.

No, they don't seem to want Al Gore, even when he does a movie based on science.

Why Jesus would be in a science class, I don't know. Does he donate to the NSTA?

I forwarded this info to science professors (at university but
they have contact with k12 science teachers) so
hopefully a grassroots revolt can take place...it's
quite common for the grassroots individual
members to be more progressive than the
conservative/establishment/don't-rock-the-boat
leaders of organizations...maybe we can get
100s of free DVDs into the hands of individual science teachers
and go right around NSTA

Ok, I can see the value of comparing various creation myths in science class for contrast purposes.

But I think your hope of teaching real thinking skills in our school system is a pipe dream. It's not in the best interests of the consumer culture to teach kids how to balance a checkbook or teach them about credit cards. The consumer society wants to keep us just smart enough to earn some money to spend.

Life, liberty and the pursuit of happiness are only important if someone can make a profit and make campaign donations. That's what this country has evolved into.

Have a beer on me. :-D

I would like to say, that as a mother of a midle school aged girl, I've been fairly impressed with the amount of info on energy conservation, oil use, (they had to go around their homes and evaluate whether each electrical item, like water heaters, TV's, etc...were energy hogs) and how each of them contributes to energy waste. (Note to self: we must by a new water heater...).
This year, I was surprised to learn that in 7th grade health class, the teachers show "Supersize Me" and none of my daughter's friends will ever eat at McDo again! So, let's not give up on public education just yet!
I'll cross my fingers and hope (or perhaps I'll put a call into the school) about Al's movie. I'll keep you posted on the outcome!

It sounds like you're in a leftist, subversive school district, mommy22.

Congratulations. [smilie=eusa_clap.gif]

I remember reading this. I can't see how It's necessary seeing as how the MSM has basically been little more than government stenographers for quite some time now.

That is a bad definition, saying any information against their own good is propaganda, who is to say?

When the natsis took children with medical defects and the doctors would inject them with euthanasia drugs and tell the parents they died, was that good or bad propaganda?
They said it was good for the nation, so it couldn't be propaganda?

When you try and convince people there was no coverup on an event when there was, and that is good for the nation, is that propaganda?

You can call anything good for the nation if you want even the blood-flag and burning the reichstag.

Bottom line: ...All lying is wrong.

there was some battle between some fox news reporters and fox news .. sometime ago
i forget what it was about exactly

but in court it came out that it wasn't illegal for fox news to distort/spin and basically lie about the news, so they had no case .. lol.

Its called the freedom of the press. Press freedom is guarenteed by the first amendment to the US Constitution. The first amendment doesn't only apply to Fox News....it applies to all media in the United States.
