$this->bbcode_second_pass_quote('Ludi', 'T')he longer I'm here, the less convinced I am that anyone pays the slightest attention to what I've posted. 8O

Maybe you should ask yourself why you're here at all. I've admitted on multiple occasions that I'm here out of a psychological crutch. I stopped actively learning things on the forums a long time ago. Switching sites doesn't change matters the way I thought it would.

To me, the hardest aspect of being a doomer is the social isolation. But reaching out to people on forums like this is a poor substitute for developing local allies. The poor results I've been able to achieve by coming out to my own family or getting a transition initiative going in my town is a big reason why I made a big U-turn back to this place. But it hasn't really made me feel any better. So many of us, as red-pillers, are in social prisons.

I find this isolation to be worse than collapse itself because it's something we have to endure right now, day in and day out.

So if there is any advice I would give to those who are new to doom, is to move heaven and earth to find others like you in your area, and if you can't, MOVE to where they are. But don't get hooked on a worldsend.

Thought about it a lot, you know. :|

Some reasons: The entertainment value and slight possibility I might learn something and share information.

It might be a "psychological crutch." I don't agonize about it much anymore.

You and your chronic AGW-denier brethren a big reason why it's not fun to be here.

This site hasn't been so full of trolls since Planty and company went into high gear after Rev. Wright story broke, or when ReverseEngineer was busy dealing out his High Plains Justice against the pigmen.

They should rename this site climategate.com.

I find it amusing when "progressive liberals" can't stand to be around people who think differently.

He created an occasional Yahoo group, and also joined various other forums for brief periods, before getting perma-banned. He's good value, IMO.

Funny how Jotapay says "half-cocked". Even the style of his writing reflects his gun fetishism.

Ah ! The non believers / doubters must run away and leave this forum open to the TRUE BELIEVERS !!!!

You lot, the CC/AGW crowd are as bad (if not worse than) fanatical muslims. The non believers must be purged, or worse. You are right and everyone else is wrong. Well, as many state, and I believe, the actual CC/AGW science isn't 100% proven either way. So, in my book, EVERYONE is allowed their view, even you MOS.

As I said earlier, ease up. If you don't like it, there is a switch at the back of your computer, take a look, it's at the side of the "MADE IN CHINA" sticker. !!!.

That's your fringe belief, not that of scientists. AGW denial is firmly in the creationist realm now whether you like it or not. You know, Kirk Cameron and the banana style pseudo-science.

$this->bbcode_second_pass_quote('GASMON', '

I don't think it's a stretch to assume that a peak oil site would primarily be the stomping ground for those who subscribe to the idea of LIMITS TO GROWTH, which is inclusive of AGW, which is a part of human pollution.

But if you actually look at the volume of postings, the signal to noise ratio is poor in the sense that a few hyperactive posters, you included, have decided to hijack the site as a vehicle for bashing global warming or other pet issues.

This is why some people left the site a while back including myself. When I came back here it seemed like things were getting back to normal but I guess it was just a lull.

Thankfully the mods have merged some of these threads, otherwise you'd have like 20 new climategate threads a day. All of them basically saying nothing that holds up under scrutiny. It's forced the more rational contingent of the site to play a tiresome game of whack-a-mole, otherwise leaving these one-sided arguments to stand uncontested.

I've been here more than 5 years. I had another log in before this one, but something screwed up and I had to start again.

I like this site generally because most people aren't calling people names and acting like children.
