$this->bbcode_second_pass_quote('Ayoob', 'P')robably in the next two months. Fuel economy be damned, I'm planning for 8MPG, if not 6. Dual fuel tanks, holding 40 gallons or more of gasoline. Cheesy racing stripes, and jacked up if I can make that happen.

With any luck, the 60" plasma is on the way in March or April. I like the products of industrial civilization!

Mine only holds 36 gallons, damn!

Wish it was 4x4.

Buy lots of bondo, as this vintage loves to rust out.

Plan on replacing the manifolds, as they love to crack. Don't do like I did and just replace them, go for headers!

Sounds good...

I'll meet you at Burning Man with 10,000 gallons of jet fuel, several endangered species & a flame-thrower.
The problem is, of course, that not only is economics bankrupt, but it has always been nothing more than politics in disguise... economics is a form of brain damage.

Ayoob those are good, sturdy trucks, and there are lots of parts available at junk yards, if you're a DIY type.

I have an '82 F100 2WD. Its a rugged and reliable machine, despite some surface rust issues.

Here is a great forum for people who own Ford pickups of any vintage.. The Ford Pickup forum.

Ford Truck Enthusiasts

There you will find everything you ever wanted to know about the truck you're looking to buy.

Lots of knowledgeable and helpful posters over there. Just don't bring up PO!! LOL

Ford Model T - 100 Years Later

Probably would be pretty fun to drive one of those Model-Ts around all those wide open fields with nothing but two-rutters for roads --except in "specially paved" areas, strictly for motor cars, don't you know.

Holy cow, she is 89 and carries a concealed pistol. She said she took the class, LOL.

A few weeks ago I bought an old work truck. I wanted something strong with a good engine. I ran across a 1986 Ford F250 3/4-ton truck. It has a 7-liter diesel engine in it. It is built like a friggin' tank. It's all steel and very simple mechanically (no computers and such). It has 380,000 miles on it. It cranks right up every time and runs really strong.

Lessons:

1. Drive like a little old lady and your car will last longer, even if it's a Ford.

$this->bbcode_second_pass_quote('GASMON', 'P')salm 23

The FORD is my motor
I shall not want, another.
It maketh me to lie down in strange places.
It anointeth my head with oil.
It carries me beside the still waters.
It empties my wallet continuously.
It leadeth me in the paths of righteousness for His name's sake. Yeah, though I drive through the valley of the shadow of death, (M62 Eastbound, Manchester to Leeds) I will fear no evil; for You are with me; Your piston rods and Your gear change staff, they comfort me.
You prepare a head gasket failure before me in the presence of my enemies.
My radiator boileth over.
Surely rust and depreciation shall follow me all the days of my life; and I will dwell in the house of the FORD forever

Amen

Ford Motors smartest of the big 3

Unread postby vampyregirl » Fri 01 Jan 2010, 13:20:56

Ford is still turning a profit while GM and Chrystler are in bankruptcy.
One reason is GM and Crystler were carrying to much dead weight, to many brands under the name, Saturn, Hummer, Opal etc and were dragged down by dead weight. Ford got rid of some of their dead weight when they sold Jaguar and Land Rover to Tata and are now trying to sell Volvo to Chinese Geely.
Another is that Ford leveraged some of their assets into cash and totally reinvented themselves outside of their trucks.
So my opinion is that Ford has the smartest management in the business. Do you agree?

I have been a First On Race Day fan for a longtime. My wife has has a 98 Taurus for 11 years and is now driving a 2008 Fusion. I had a 2000 Lightning from 2000 - 2002, a 98 Ranger from 02 to present. And also now have a 2004 Lightning.

As you can guess, I love Lightnings.
