$this->bbcode_second_pass_quote('steam_cannon', '[')In our system, fragmented voting on
minority parties improves the chances for more extreme parties.

Actually, the minority parties in the USA tend to be at the extremes, and by taking away the votes at the extremes they tend to improve the chances of those candidates who are more centrist and attract the middle-of-the road voter.

This is where your logic breaks down.

This is a two party system and the right has a history of funding
third party candidates to shift the political spectrum right, not center
like what you are saying.

Follow the money
$this->bbcode_second_pass_quote('', '[')b]Why do you think that Republican groups are donating money to Nader's campaign?
Not to mention, what does it say about Nader's integrity to accept the money.
He knows he has no chance of winning.
He knows he is basically taking votes away from Kerry, because no Green Party member would vote for Bush.
He knows that the Republicans realize this so they want him to do as well as he possibly can because he is taking votes from Kerry that have no chance of going to Bush.
He knows that's why they are giving him money.
Knowing all this he still doesn't drop out of the race.

I predict Plantagenet is writing up a response right now
something to the effect...

$this->bbcode_second_pass_quote('', 'A')ctually Nader is not running in this election.

And Jesse could beat up Nader anyday...

So if you followed politics you would know it's not the same. 8)

$this->bbcode_second_pass_quote('steam_cannon', ' ')Republican groups are donating money to Nader's campaign?

Republicans didn't donate much money to Nader, but Republican lawyers did help Nader when he filed a series of lawsuits to get on the ballot after the dems tried to change the rules to make it very very difficult for third parties to get on the ballot.

Its a simple fact that Nader is a leftist, and he attracts money, support and voters primarily on the left. Its silly for you to deny this obvious fact.

Minority extremist parties tend to capture voters on the extremes in the US. The major parties in the US are more centrist because the vast majority of voters are middle-of-the-road in their views. 8)

The much argument, brilliant. Thank you for confirming the republicans donating to Nader.

$this->bbcode_second_pass_quote('Plantagenet', 'R')epublican lawyers did help Nader when he filed a series of

Yeah, out of the kindness of their hearts. Thanks again for more supporting evidence.

Man, typical Plantagenet spin. He takes something that you're not denying,
and accuses you of denying it. What BS.

Here I'm saying that the Republicans have a history of donating
money and support to fragment the left, thereby shifting the
political spectrum right. Obviously fragmenting the left means
supporting left leaning candidates that lefties will waste their votes on.
So yeah, we all know Nader is a leftist. Thank you Captain Obvious!

No problemo.

The democrats don't have a monopoly on virtue in these matters. Both parties have done the same kind of things in boosting 3rd parties that hurt the other side. Perot played the same spoiler role on the right in the 1992 and 1996 elections as Nader did on the left in 2000.

Just in this current election season some dems encouraged their fellow dems in Wisconsin to strategically switch to the Republican site vote for Romney to keep the Republican primary fight going longer. Rush Limbaugh has been enouraging Republicans to vote strategically for Hillary in Texas and Pennsylvania for the same nefarious reasons.

Nader seems to be a spent force, and I doubt Bloomberg or Ventura will run, so the 2008 election probably won't have a spoiler 3rd party in it, either on the extreme left or on the extreme right. :)

As I recall the way Jessie got elected Gov was because the Dem candidate supported his running. It was a gambit to split the Republican vote only it backfired. Once Jessie got the podium he outshone the pols. on both sides.

But my recollection ain't worth much anymore.

I think you got it right.

Someday we'll get a third party president too, as long as the election rules are kept fair and open enough so the two main parties can't block third party candidates from getting on the ballot.

But I don't think it will be the "The Body." I don't think Ventura will run. Now that he's in the WWE "Hall of Fame" why should he risk tarnishing his reputation by being president?

Jesse Ventura on 911

Postby toast » Tue 01 Dec 2009, 03:59:12

Like so many other people, I admire Jesse Ventura. There's nothing new of substance on this youtube but alot of straight talk. I thought many of you would enjoy viewing it.

He's going to have his own TV show on TruTV. It's called 'Conspiracy Theory' and it premiers this Wednesday at 10. I'm curious to see how frank he will be, or how 'show-biz' he might be instead.

He just lays out the evidence and lets people decide for themselves. They wouldn't let him subpoena people for real answers. Are there really people out there who don't believe 911 was inside job ?

Pretty much EVERYBODY I know thinks the government is lying. That's unbelievable to me really since just four years ago I myself thought 9-11 Truthers were nuts.

I think Jesse Ventura should run for President with Arnold Swartzenegger as his VP (since he can't run for president--actually is VP run allowable?)

See Variety magazine's review of Jesse's new show.

http://www.variety.com/review/VE1117941695.html?categoryid=32&cs=1

$this->bbcode_second_pass_quote('', 'G')rowling about the government's nefarious doings, Ventura saunters around in a black leather jacket and throws a fit when he isn't allowed to inspect the top-secret facility. And while the show's press notes say the goal is to let viewers decide for themselves, the ominous music and ongoing commentary make it clear the program's general assumption is that very bad things are being hidden from the public.

No way! Not the United States government.. They would never hide something from the public to further an objective! Never!

Must Watch: Global Warming Conspiracy by Jesse Ventura

Postby chuck6877 » Fri 18 Dec 2009, 23:34:00

Jesse Ventura has a great new show on Tru TV(the old Court TV). This episode is the best so far.

Know who Maurice Strong is with the UN? You need to learn. It's all about the money. The Rothschild's, Gore, and many others are in it for money, power, and to help set up global governance. Check it out. It's very good!
