Hey Vision.. that is NOT funny. That poor man was a cancer survivor, then went back to school to become a teacher.. he couldn't find full time work in that field, so took the census job to make a little money.

Most likely, this incident has nothing to do with anger at the federal reserve, and has everything to do with Kentucky pot growers, moonshiners, and meth labs. They ought to take that little army out of Pittsburgh and go clean up Clay County, Kentucky.

Haves and have-nots baby...

And the Haves wil be fewer and fewer...until the riots and the revolutions and the wars.

Then the "stuff" and "purchasing power" will be divied up amongst the masses but there will be less and less of it for everyone...

So a strong man will come in to "save the day"...and banish, imprison or kill segments of the population that are undesireable, take as much of the "stuff" for him and his cronies...

Until a revolution overthrows the big man and redistributes the "stuff to the masses. But here will be less and less of it for everyone...

and on and on-
No Soup for You!!

Surprisingly, some of our lower income employees and customer call themselves have-nots although some of them have modest homes, nice vehicles, boats, waverunners, quads, motorcycles, snowmobiles, hunting & fishing gear, big screen televisions, digital cable, notebooks, high speed internet, cell phones etc.

Many of my tenants think of themselves as have-nots simply because they're not homeowners.

Some see so much wealth surrounding them that they feel poor, although they're living quite well.

This strikes a chord.

That's exactly how people perceive wealth. It's more important to people that they feel somewhat close to equal with their peers than the actual amount of their wealth.

Its sort of funny in a way, VW building new plant in America hiring 2000 people while GM is closing down more plants and laying off 1000's of employees.

VW does have some of the best MPG out there right now, if only GM would have focus on MPG instead of the hummer ??

$this->bbcode_second_pass_quote('Cog', 'W')hat happens to the 63,000 that don't get the jobs?

1)they get one of the other 1 000 000 jobs they applied recently;
2)they will use unemployment bennies and public assistance;
3)they'll consider becoming career welfarers;
4)they'll move to another country/area;
5) who cares?

Remember, this is a service economy. I brush your hair, you scratch my back. We do that to auntie Bronte, and she cleans our houses. Then all three of us do it for waitress Polly, and she brings us drinks.
As there are 4 of us already we will need Bob who is an IRS tax inspector. 5 people need some supervision, we get a policeman John. Then of course we will need a fireman, alcohol tobacco and guns manager, bus driver to get us around, car salesman for our fancy, car mechanic, and finally doctor (s?) to keep us fat and happy. Then of course lawyers and judges, these invaluable members of society might come handy when a doctor will cut off a wrong foot or I will brush your hair less elegantly than usual.
So , as long as soybeans and corn are out there, and third worlders break their backs by hoeing plantations and grinding diamonds for $1 a day, they will find something to do for you. In any case they won't let you run amock with bulged eyes and your tongue outside.

65,000 applicants sounds like a lot, but consider that equates to 32.5 applicants per individual job. That kind of number of is actually pretty average, especially these days. It's not uncommon at all for businesses to get 30 or so resumes per job opening.

Emergency Jobless Insurance Claims Surge

Unread postby mattduke » Tue 15 Dec 2009, 21:09:58

$this->bbcode_second_pass_quote('', 'T')he number you won't hear mentioned anywhere in the Mainstream Media: 327,729. That is how many people shifted to Emergency Unemployment Compensation programs in the last week alone, hitting an all time record high of 4.2 million! So as everyone is focused on the benign picture of initial claims in the last week which was "only" 474,000, the number of people rolling off continuing benefits has exploded and is now a stunning 592,579 only in the last two week.

You don't believe regime figures do you?

Shadow stats claims the real unemployment is at 20% nearing great depression levels. I believe that is more accurate than the touted regime number of 10%.

One of the CNBC anchors was arguing with Rick Santelli, telling him there's "no such thing as Emergency Unemployment Compensation."

Depends on the state of the state as they vary mildly and some.Some states arent as bad off as California
Michigan ,New York, Florida, where some one reported in some areas its 25%+ unemployment.

Six;

I have to disagree. You have repeated something that you've read so many times that you just take it to be true. The US is still the world manufacutring power. The catch, which most people miss, is that as labor got more and more expensive and machines got better and cheaper, we replaces people with machines.

What we lost was manufacturing jobs, we still do a lot of manufacturing. What we import from China is the cheap crap and manufacutred items that are labor intensive, we don't import everything.

Now, the problem is we are loaded down with debt at every level and we are facing a coming energy shortage. The debt will stop us from having a big rebound and, if we do start to have a big rebound engery prices will rise to stop it. We are screwed both ways unless we can develop and implement a method to power transportation which replaces petroleum.

I'm not so sure this is true. Now I don't have any statistics to back it up, but just going out and buy stuff, both as a consumer and a business tells me a different story.

Almost every cheap good is made in china or india.
Almost every high quality consumer good (expensive watch, expensive furniture, expensive kitchen gadget, expensive you-name-it) is made in europe. Even high quality toys (e.g. model trains, speciality wood toys, high quality building toys) are made in europe.
High quality industrial (machines, tools, speciality items) is either from europe or japan.

There is some industrial manufacturing left but in relation to the size of the US it feels tiny and most often it's not as advanced as the europeen counterpart.

China may have more factories then the US, but they pump out junk/garbage/crap... I try to go out of my way to find things built anywhere but that toxic wasteland.
