Bugging Out

Unread postby JPL » Sun 21 Jun 2009, 19:09:53

Quick note to all on the forum, I'm going to be off-line for a while whilst I move myself & family to our fall-back bug-out location. Not exactly what I wanted but I think it's time to move.

No clues as to where it is (sorry) but I'm pushing off in 2 days time.

Will be back on line at some point, contributions will be intermittant for the forseeable. If the plan 'totally' fails I will be back within a couple of weeks but hopefully that won't be the case.

Jack, etc, can you pass word up the line, that the average IQ level of postings is about to go up about 10 points and conversations will be a lot more coherent. from this point on.

Till then, take care. Wish me luck!

Yes Is there something you know? Bugging out for me is a critical moment. When I finally bug out to my fall back place for good. I'm leaving every thing behind job, creature comforts. So I'm not going to be going prematurely but not going to be the last minute either. I just watch and pay attention but haven't seen anything that would want me to jump ship just yet.

Only intuition - it's often guided me well in the past. It's now telling me to drop everything & move ASAP. But this may be personal circumstance. I don't know...

Yea, I think it's different for people in the US & the UK. In either case I think you need about 3 months notice, but it's different. What I'm looking forward to (not) is that wonderful moment when 70 million people suddenly realise they are living on an island. Prior to the Industrial Revolution the pop of the UK was reasonably stable at about 10 million and they 'knew what they were doing' which for me is a critical factor. Now they don't - so we're doomed. For me, the only thing that's negotiable is the time-scale.

Anyhow, I digress. Just wanted to say I'll be out of contact for a bit, really. With regards to 'timescale of doom', I'm sure you can all figure it out. We all either have 'not enough time' or 'the rest of our lives', depending on which way you figure it.

Either way the result is the same (grin).

Bye!

The world is slowly running out of oil and food will be getting really, really costly as the economy deteriorates step-by-step in little 'L' shaped moves.

The question isn't 'what has JPL heard', it's congratulations for acting upon what we've ALL heard.

Precicely. I also just wanted to cover the fact that I'll be away from the forum for a while but it's not because of dis-loyalty etc., but for reasons that I think people here will fully understand.

'Nuff said.

JPL: Good luck on your journey! Glad you'll be popping back in from time to time. You'll be going at or about Midsummer - that seems like an auspicious time, somehow! I envy the fact that you have a bug-out place - take care!

L.

Well good luck. My family comes originally from Brighton, I know a bit about that area, so It's safe to assume you're not bugging out there.
With almost 70 million souls, honestly the only two locations that would get my attention as a place to bug out to, would be: The Orkney's or The Shetlands.
Then again there are parts of western Scotland that are possible. The Hebrides?
Without spilling the beans, I'd be curious about the general area you're heading to...
I'm from Canada, we've got lots of room here, so any Englishman and family are always welcome here. :)
Good luck, and cheers mate.
