$this->bbcode_second_pass_quote('', '[')b] * Their work week is short enough to make us drool in envy.
* They enjoy almost unbelievable egalitarianism
* The religious gasp at their high levels of sexual freedom, experimentation, and enjoyment.
* They're damn happy people, laughing freely way more than we do.
* Outside a division of labor, women have total social equality with men.
* They rarely resort to violence or war
* Strong social safety nets in most of their societies support the disabled, old, and in many cases, even the lazy.
* They usually live to be at least as old as we do
* Their health is more robust than ours, and they're frequently immune to diseases ravaging their sedentary neighbors.
* Their social lives are rich, and they have the free time to indulge themselves.
* With a few exceptions, their lifestyle lets them live in harmony with the earth, relying mostly on renewable resources, and keeping their numbers at a sustainable level.
* Their senses appear many times sharper than their own, and many seem curiously immune to extremes of temperature.
* Their strength often seems unbelievable.
* They intelligently use their time to create more productive environments that needs little care.

$this->bbcode_second_pass_quote('Maddog78', 'I') notice many Europeans love to romanticise about Indians (Native Americans)

I grew up 3 miles from an Indian reservation in northern Canada. No romantic notions for me.
Some of them were OK. The rest, well........no point getting into that here.

Reservation = enlightened version of concentration camp? (compared to their original situation before Europeans)

Blame the Jews for looking grungy and thin in concentration camp pictures?

So I've got everything in place. I got the kids off to their dads for two months and have someone to take care of my critters. I am going native in July, and if Ludi gets her wish I won't be back. I've made preparations in case someting happens to me, the kids and critters will be taken care of.

I see no one else has taken up the challenge of seeing how far they can go in roughing it, I expect this will be a very enlightening experience. No meds, little food and no one who knows where I am going. Just me, my tent and sleeping bag, a cedar bow drill and a fishing rod. I can't wait.

I (and I'm sure others) eagerly await your full report when you return. Good Luck!

PS: I don't see 1) several high quality knives and 2) a hatchet on your list above. I highly suggest you take these items with you if you want a fighting chance out there.....

Oh and by the way I missed it when you issued your "join me for a week" challenge back in May. I certainly would have loved to join you. Next time I guess.

Hyperbole or what?
Did you even read the other post I made about the benefits Natives get in Canada that working class others could only dream about having?
Some of the most anti Native people I knew were Natives with ambition that left the reserve and achieved a successful lifestyle and looked down upon their brothers for being lazy, ambitionless, welfare addicts.
Whatever, I'm not even going to get into it here. I know what I saw and experienced growing up.
What do you know? Saw Dances With Wolves 3 times?
The world has changed. I don't live like my father and he doesn't live like his father. You don't hear me bitching about it. Get on with your life and make the most of it or bitch about what happened to your ancestors. What seems to be the better attitude?

A lot of people apparently still can't get past the sin of the neolithic revolution, let alone the mistreatment of native americans.

There's nothing more for me to say to a group of people who not only suspect we may return to the stone age but actually hope and desire for it to happen.

$this->bbcode_second_pass_quote('', '[')b]If you like it so much …

People who dislike what I’m saying will challenge me this way: “If you’re so crazy about the tribal life, why don’t you get a spear and go live in a cave?” The tribal life isn’t about spears and caves or about hunting and gathering. Hunting and gathering is a lifestyle, an occupation, a way of making a living. A tribe isn’t a particular occupation; it’s a social organization that facilitates making a living.

I'm not sure if we are going to return to the stone age and I don't desire for it to happen because I don't think it would be pleasant transition.

But things are definitely going to change over the next decade, and most of the changes are NOT going to be fun. Karma is a b***h and often seems to have bad aim.

I used to think that the less advanced peoples were simply unfortunate victims of "Civilization" and that progress that would lead to something like the Jetsons or Star Trek.

Now I'm seeing it more like a mindless and aimless cancer spreading that managed to kill off the healthy cells living in balance with the system, that is moving towards destroying the entire system, which will ironically lead to the death of the cancer as well.

I suspect cancer cells would have nothing to say to healthy cells, except maybe "look how much we've spread!"

I do think there ought to be a way to live in balance with the rest of the world that doesn't entail running around in animal skins with an obsidian spear.
