What reversed the last ice age. Campfires in caves?

$this->bbcode_second_pass_quote('AAA', 'G')reat bump Shannymara!

I am rooting for the peak but want it to come in about 10+ years. That way I have time to get things in order.

AAA, that's awful and terrible and self-centered.. and I couldn't agree more! :P
Give me ten good years so that I can pay-off the farm/house and get my pantry stockpile where I want it.

Of course, the pessimist in me doesn't think we have that long. Maybe five good years resembling some sort of declining "normalcy" - that's my best guess. Enough for me to have everything built, but some debt will be outstanding. Maybe I'll get lucky and the collection agencies & government won't be financially/logistically able to forcibly collect from me (and millions of other debtors).

As far as wanting the peak to occur, from a non-personal perspective.. it seems like a necessary evil. This way of life cannot be sustained, and I can imagine worse mechanisms for the human race's population drawdown. Still, I waver; the transition from 20th century lifestyle to powerdown is going to be the story of mankind for the next few centuries, and much of this story is going to be absolutely horrible.

Just gimme ten years. Gotta pay-off those solar panels and buy some spare parts for my household devices.. :-D

$this->bbcode_second_pass_quote('pstarr', ' ')You are just another lucky fool.

Thats the best compliment I have gotten from you. Thanks.

My guess is most if not all po believers want it to happen because it proves us right. Nobody wants to believe in something and be wrong.

And nobody actually wants a die-off. Saying it would be good for 1 billion people to disappear is easy. But what if your wife/husband, kids, parents, etc... are part of that 1 billion. Is anyone still in favor of the die off? Of course not.

But all of us and our loved ones WILL die, eventually, of something. "Die-off" simply means a drastic reduction in population. It doesn't mean a "kill-off" or even necessarily a "premature death-off." Under ideal circumstances, there would be no additional premature deaths, simply a drastic reduction in births. Under ideal circumstances, this could happen during the span of one lifetime (about 75 years). By ecological and historical terms, that would be a catastrophic die-off. Yet it does not require premature deaths.

Interesting view point but most of the references to die-off that I have seen on PO.com is due to rioting, economic collapse, violence, starvation, etc... not birth control.

P.S. Dont ask for links because I don't ahve any. :)

Yeah, die-off due to rioting. And Zombies.

Actually, human die-off is most likely going to be due to disease. But that's not nearly as exciting as Zombies. :|

I have spent the last two years preparing. I dont have that much, but I could keep my family fed for a few months. So YES, I want the collapse to happen. As far as I can see it will be the only way for me to be unemployeed with dignity. Otherwise I will have to work till I die. I don't make alot of money, But I did pay off my house 1 month ago. I am officially debt free.

And the only person I want to say I told you so too, would be my wife. It has been a tough 2 years, sneaking preps in. She is not on board. She just puts up with it. I hope she likes chicken ala king. :)
