$this->bbcode_second_pass_quote('chukar', 'O')f course not! The way I see it, peak oil means the return of diseases such as cholera and bubonic plague. I'm in a terrible situation. Hawaii is ridiculously overcrowded, dependent on massive good and energy imports and the problems only worsen every year. As much as I'd like to see a change of lifestyle, I value my health and security.
Maybe you should get a sailboat and be ready to risk the run north to Alaska. Its not the most difficult trip at the right time of year; and if you catch the timing wrong, you could always kill some time at sea while everyone else is shooting and bashing each other to claim 1000sq ft pieces of land to grow some food on.
You'll need to be able to make fresh water, and you'll probably want to learn how to operate an amatuer version of a longline. The more fish you can eat, the less peanut butter you'll have to eat.
Oh, and no pretty boats, no big boats. John Letcher's
Island Girl would be a good example of a tested design.
