$this->bbcode_second_pass_quote('Ludi', 'I')t seems to me though, if the electric car really had "popular demand" of the kind you imply, we would see many more homemade conversions and more shops set up for doing electric conversions. But the electric car subset of the car hobby seems very small, compared to other subsets such as restoring vintage cars.
In all fairness, restoring vintage cars has been around for a half century or so longer than EV conversions, and up until recently, EV conversions haven't been financially viable, so that isn't a fair comparison. In terms of activity, I know of at least one vendor in Seattle w/ ~100 50 mile battery packs on order from China, but who knows how many conversions we're looking at in the country.
