In an emergency, the prison population will be executed. There may be some exceptions to this such as "camps" where there are no fences. Then they will have more space for new offenders. The last thing they want when there is an emergency is hardcore criminals running around while they are trying to keep law and order.

Tougher employee pre-screening including background checks, drug screening and the lack of work history, education, skills, knowledge, reliable transportation, drivers licenses, plus past debt, child support etc make it difficult for criminals to find good paying jobs or affordable housing.

Many criminals without support of friends or family end up back in the system. Often the only housing they can afford happens to be located in drug infested high crime areas where the temptation to sell, use, abuse drugs and commit other crimes is high.

Seems like the target market (male youth) already has a fascination with prison culture. Prison shows are plastered all over MSNBC in the off-hours. Other shows abound. Why no video game?

My brother was being harassed by a bailiff and considered battering him. He asked if it'd be self defense if the bailiff started it. When I said maybe, but you would still get done for excessive force. He actually said prison doesn't seem like that bad an option at the moment!

We have a couple of places where the inmates work the woods here in Maine. They have a sawmill up in Charleston, but that's a minimum security prison.

I believe the poseur thug decadent 20-something brats that live across the street from me are fascinated by this as well. They occasionally do some stupid act or another in the hopes that they will be picked up for a few days. It gives them "street cred" by saying stuff like "yeah, this guy that I met in jail says he will give me a discount on a tattoo"....

Of course, the mother, a desperate housewife with health issues, is frantic, spending literally thousands and having to cash out her 401K to keep this little brat out of the joint.

Pathetic. I'd like to go over and "batter" them myself....

Here's the problem: Not enough young males growing up in a house with a strong male role model that will inflict corporal punishment on them if they step out of line. They end up dismotivated, decadent, and doing the above crap to make a social statement.....

The fact that a lot of these little jerks are unemployed just makes the matters worse, and provides an excellent feedback loop. Wait for them to get some little girl pregnant and another generation of this stuff pops out into the world.
