Top Ten Myths on PO.com

We have bunch of them.

Number #1 has got to be:

1. Abiotic oil

Followed closely by:

2. Hydrogen is a source of energy.

And:

3. You can have growth without using energy.

I have more, but help me out.

5. Atmospheric C02 is not linked to global warming.

6. The planet is cooling.

$this->bbcode_second_pass_quote('MonteQuest', '3'). You can have growth without using energy.

You can have growth with less energy. Certainly not without any energy at all. You can't do anything with no energy at all. You ever hang out with one of those chronic fatigue syndrome people? They can't get anything done. :(

13. Energy and ecology have no influence on the economy. The economy exists in a hyperbaric vacuum chamber. The only thing that changes the economy is when economists push buttons and pull levers.

13.5. An omnipotent and benevolent force called "they" is looking out for our energy needs. They will come up with something.

$this->bbcode_second_pass_quote('seldom_seen', '1')3.5. An omnipotent and benevolent force called "they" is looking out for our energy needs. They will come up with something.

On the other extreme:

13.6 An omnipotent and malevolent force called "they" is playing out some global conspiracy. Everything bad that happens in the world is due to "them". Nobody need take personal responsibility for their own individual failures and misery as long as they can point to "them".

The solution is to live local, grow local, work with your neighbors and find local sustainability.
