Post your random pictures that you want peakoil members to see. This thread might get abit "large to the side" if people post big pictures or panoramas and such...

This is the first time my backyard is totally snowless for ~6 months:

This photo was taken from a nearby apartment block around my place (I'm just about a couple of blocks away). In the foreground is a small regional cluster of shops, next is the LRT (light rail), a park, and a primary (grade?) school.

And all around ... Vertical Suburbia.

You didn't have a snowy winter up there in Minneapolis? South of you we had a snowfall a couple weeks back with some places getting 23inches!

Japan. How are they going to feed that city with no oil?

Lowem: reminds me of Hong Kong.

Japan also is gong to be in trouble.

Future archaeologists, should there be any, are going to think we were quite mad.

But Lowem, you're posting again now - have you found a job? I hope so.

cheers

No, not really. We only got around 40 inches the whole year. It's usually 70+ inches. But that picture shows the first time the backyard with no snow since November.

lotrfan55345, no offense, but you're kinda screwed living there. I'm glad my suburb doesn't look anywhere near that crowded.

Well...my street anyway. There are a few real estate developments that built houses like that. May our children forgive us  .

Not really - theres farmland surrounding 2 sides of the neighborhood. But I guess the problem is if the farmers share with us. ;)

LOTRFAN: Forget about the farming fields, looking at your "backyard" and the general lack of fences, it looks like you could set up a community garden. Wouldn't feed everyone, but could offset some food demands.

Here's a photo I took a few months ago in Switzerland (Bern), 7:38am Jan 10th, 18mm, F13, 10 seconds, ISO 100. Switzerland seem to be relatively well equipped for peak oil. I visited all the major towns and rode almost the whole train network (I was working a rail project).

Sure they'll share it with you. Ever heard of sharecroppers. That's your future, lotrfan. No more air conditioned cubicle for you. Its bustin' sod with your own back. If your lucky they'll have animal teams. But its still work work work!

Ah, yes, the vertical suburbia countries (Singapore, Hong Kong), as compared to the horizontal sprawl first pioneered by good ol' USA.

Here's what one of Singapore's ministers said recently, and in direct contrast to that, I've quoted Jim Kunstler's earlier reply to me :

"Taller flats"

Well I won't make this topic OT, but I'll post my job update in my earlier thread as promised, on Tuesday or so, when things are more settled. Thanks for remembering! :)
