You either believe you are smarter than thermodynamics or you intend to steal from the power companies. [If you, by whatever means, are able to "draw energy" from a circuit, the power source, i.e., the power company, has to put in more energy to keep the balance. It is essentially the same as "tapping" in all the "energy" going through a power line.]
Either way, you will lose big time.
I remember hearing a story years ago about a fellow that had a high tension power line next to his property. He had supposedly wound a big coil in a shed on his property line and was getting "free" power from induction. The way the story went they finally caught him.
I've never worked in the industry but I expect power companies keep pretty close tabs on line losses.
Well, they actually try and forecast them (depends on weather, but mostly on which plant produces how much) since they have to compensate for it, and if they are caught off-guard on that they have to buy balancing power, which is comparable to a Porsche in price.
That said, it is more likely they found out while checking the cables for integrity and aging (they measure resistance, and if that's too large, they'll take a closer look), as long as he withdrew only some kW.
