We've had the famous quotes thread (my favorite: the zen one, "its all darkness just an inch ahead") How about a dumbest quotes thread? Presumably they would be related to peak oil but not necessarily. For instance my candidate would be, "That's one small step for man, one great leap forward for mankind." I mean, here we had the greatest engineering feat in history, landing on the Moon, and Niel Armstrong comes out with this piece of puke prose? Surely they could have come up with something more graceful than that. Anything. How about, "OK, I'm walking on the Moon now" or "It's very beautiful here, everyone" or "Looks like a lot of rocks" or "Wow, what a view!" or "This isn't cheese" or "I claim this land on the behalf of the citizens of the United States of America and all their descendants unto Posterity." Actually I had a twofer thread in mind: dumbest quotes or a better quote for Niel Armstrong.

This is not a dumb quote, but it is relevant when you consider people like Julian Simon. I'm attributing it to Andrew Bartlett, but I'm not sure who said it first:
