$this->bbcode_second_pass_quote('uNkNowN ElEmEnt', 'T')hat is pre-supposing that anyone actually looks beyond the initial phase. I find most people are so self-absorbed they can't really get get past their own assumptions and bias' to see other people for what they really are. which is what this thread is about.
Do you guys have ANY idea how many women don't feel as though the guy they are with actually knows them, or see's them for themselves? (Good clue would be if you know what kind of xmas or birthday present she really would like, not the one she just kind of smiles and gooes over but ne'er touches again.)
That kind of thing goes both ways, of course.
I blame the simplistic "Mars / Venus" kind of relationship books as standing in the way of figuring out what someone is really like. Many people read them, and I often wince when I hear some simple "truism" trotted out to explain why "all women think blah" or why "all men want foo".
I have a really good idea of what my wife likes for gifts, because I do listen to what she talks about, and I don't have any preconceived notion of what she wants "because she's a woman". Vice-versa, too.
But then, we consider each other to be best friends as well as spouses -- we began as co-workers, then friends, then lovers & marriage.
