$25 brews you 5 gallons of pretty much any beer you want. Half that (and a bit more time) gets you two gallons of wine.

Alcohol will definitely be bartering material post-crash, I'd wager.

I used to live near one micro-brewery restaurant , with a best master-brewer in the chain (20+ restaurants), who was also a bartender and my friend. Just a few years ago a 12oz glass was $1.29 at lunch time, and it was the best American beer I ever had. I've been drinking 15-20 of them if I had a company. Never saw a bill, just was leaving a good tip.
Long story short, I quit drinking a few months ago and would recommend it to every white man or woman.

8) "Beer is the proof that god loves us and wants us to be happy"
Ben Franklin

Now when you build that beer pipeline up to the last frontier what diameter pipe will you need to use compared to the diameter of the gas pipeline. Bigger or smaller? Now if you size it right you could pump in raw beer in Montana and have it finish brewing and age as it moves up the pipe and arrive just as its ready. Might have to beech wood line the last 500 miles of pipe or so to get the right flavor.

What would J6P need an antiaircraft gun for? There are no Beer hawks are there. :)

Herb goes farther, is cheaper and no hang-overs.

Fear not my friend. The free market will provide.

Before the advent of electricity and tractor trailer rigs, every small hamlet in America had a local brewer.

I have over 200 empty beer bottles. Half of them are the latch-seal kind that don't even require a sheet metal stamped cap.

I hope you take care of those little gaskets on the top as I have found that they dry out and crack which can lead to infiltration or poorly conditioned beer. Good to have a regular bottle capper and bottles too.

No hang-overs? Only if you're a regular at it. Does generally go farther, though, and price varies.

Those seals are about a dime each at the brew supply place I hit, and are a bit more reusable than a bottle cap. The bottles themselves, on the other hand, cost either an arm or a leg each. :D

Yes, I guess I was responding to the scenario where resupply is not convienent, but still you are right about needing the bottle caps too. Sometimes you can get bottles free from your local pub (both cappable and the stopper type).

I collected about 100 Grolsch bottles with the ceramic stoppers attached. Unfortunately, they are all in a storage unit back in MO :-(

That's how I got most of my latch-type bottles. I used to go dumpster-diving each Sunday morning at the local German restaurant.

Like Minvaren said, the liter size latch type bottles are expensive to purchase. I buy one or two at a time whenever I'm resupplying barley and sugar. I don't know if they are more cost effective than metal caps. I just like them.

I used to use regular quart beer bottles with the screw-on lids. They can be reused many times. Why spend an arm & a leg on fancy bottles and caps?

8) I'm going to keep mine in half kegs in the root cellar. Aluminum if I can get them, oak or beech wood if I can't.
