I've mostly not been posting lately. Feel like I already said everything I can and lots of people didn't care. Don't know if I can help anyone any more. :(

I'll miss you if you go, vision-master.

I miss the old days as well. I hang around a bit because I'm a mod but I do feel most about everything has been said and done.

Who better to reply than a new guy like me.

All life evolves. This forum should be no exception. Judging by the number of posts you have made it is obvious you have invested a lot of words in this forum.

Who knows how many readers have benefited from your insight?

I have felt the same way. It comes in waves.

Overall, I feel I have gained from my participation. I've learned an immense amount about myself, others, and the world.

The danger is investing too much of your identity and time in this place. I have learned to achieve better separation from this website without throwing the baby out with the bathwater.

It is true that, after a while, you've said all you have to say, or most of it.

However, as the world situation continues to change, new things arise on which to comment. The financial crisis is an example.

That, and the need for some sort of human contact beyond my extremely limited nonvirtual social life, will probably keep me hanging on here until either it or I hits the dust.

As much effort as some people have put in here sharing their knowledge and ideas, and then people bitch about nobody doing anything, or not doing just the right thing (whatever that is) it is frustrating. :-x

I feel something similar.

I assume it has something to do with being forced to leave Canada and coming back to the US.

Before my divorce, I had an optimistic plan that I would find survival in rural Canada. This forum gave me infinite ideas then.

Now I look around at urban Houston and I just feel lost. I don't think I'll get any ideas from the forum now. Houston is doomed.

I'm lost in my own home town. I am trying to find a way to get out of here. Forums can't help me now.

My hope is that I will be able to relocate in time to make a difference for myself. Perhaps then, I will find more ideas here.

Being in touch with like minded people can be helpful, they can give you ideas, even contacts which might lead to relocation. There are several people on the board who are starting communities, perhaps they could help you, Wednesday.

Maybe so, Ludi.

Living in Houston right now is a lesson in denial.

My "sort-of-maybe-half-assed-plan" is to find some place to relocate in Central Texas.

I simply can't afford it right now.

See if you can get in touch with Hermes on this board, he has some land where he is starting a community.

On a public forum like this, it's not possible to know how many people your words help.

We are fairly new to the forum, but we lurk - sometimes several times a day. Learning so much as we go! And grateful for all the contributions!

We don't say much often because thing get 'tense' in here and we have no interest in being 'attacked' and y'all can 'have a go' at each other often. Discussions are great - everyone can learn. Arguments are uncomfortable, particularly over opinions that are naturally going to vary.

So, speaking for our family, we thank all of you for sharing your knowledge, ideas, and opinions!

All things change and all things evolve and this board is no exception. Since it has been established that this board is hard to search out previously discussed topics, the best we can hope for is a daily place to converse and hash and rehash things that have already been discussed.

It reminds me of music "scenes" I've been involved with over the years. I run into old music friends and we reminisce about how great it was when we all played music here and there and the jams we used to have, how we hate the "newcomers" to the scene blah blah blah...

I've been involved in several of these awesome music scenes and the thing is they come and they go. It is all good. The next one is usually just around the corner.

We have to take this place at face value and enjoy it for what it is. A place to share our views.

I don't post that often but I read a lot, and this forum helped me pretty much... more than some of you would believe, I didn't lose my mind because I found people that we're thinking the same way. But... ok... it's not what it was before... maybe because we are post peak now... or maybe because we got tired of bla-bla and no action...

I won't quit the forum till the day internet is not working anymore, or this forum is dead.

Thanks all for NOT saying; "don't let the door hit you in the arse on the way out". That's what I figured the standard reply would be.

I do feel as if I've evolved spiritually since joining PO and emotionally am trying to ready myself the "big changes" on the horizon with mankind.

The day-to-day economy stuff here is boring me to death (yes it does suck). Also PO used to have better actual PO related stuff in days past. Those people have been more quite as of late.

To be honest with folks here, I think we, as a species NEED to find a different way of living, a sustainable less materialistic way. We need to let go of the old ways.

Today I had to run over to Menards for some high-temp sealant for my pellet stove. I forget, today is black Friday. What is wrong with people? Everyone is out shopping, buying useless crap for our so-called "Christmas Holiday". It seemed so insane....

Lately music has taken on an explosion like the 60's. There is so much great stuff being released these days.

Rush just released a new live concert (3) DVD pack for $13. What a steal!

The Who just released concert footage from 1977 flimed in 35mm. Wow!

I don't go anywhere on Thanksgiving weekend.

I never could understand the need to buy new Christmas stuff every year. And with the family so far away and shipping costs, we mostly do gift cards now, if anything.

Oh, well.

I'm glad you're feeling better, vision-master. These are bewildering times.

$this->bbcode_second_pass_quote('Goatlady', ' ')Arguments are uncomfortable.

True. But (with occasional setbacks) I've learned how to disagree better, and to handle others' disagreement better. You learn how to leave most of the emotion out. You learn that you can just walk away. This is a skill worth developing, as I see it.

Thanx, I googled pharmacratic inquisition. Now that I've set up the big screen 37" LCD to my computer, I've been busy watching lot's of stuff on google-video lately. No more TV! I'll check it out.

I float between this forum and the one at LATC...both have their selling points, and I've learned a huge amount about myself, those on these forums, and the overall world in which we live.

However, somedays, it's just easier to switch off the forum, and go walk the property line, and image the "what ifs" of what we have. It brings what I've learned here back into persepctive. Plus, it reboots me back into the proper frame of mind: preparing myself and my wife for the worst case things that could happen, but being ever hopeful of the positives that could happen as well.
