$this->bbcode_second_pass_quote('mgibbons', 'N')o doubt. Although of course on a bike, really a geo metro is almost as bad as an excursion.
actually, i'd argue a geo-metro isn't nearly as bad. i know what you meant....if it HITS you it's just as bad (maybe), but my concern is the probability of getting hit in the first place.
Aside from their sheer mass, one of the SUVs worst characteristics is their tendency to have huge multiple blind spots.
A co-worker of mine got knocked off his motorcycle, badly breaking his ankle, when an SUV changed lanes without seeing him.
a few days later an SUV cut me off on my MC, but fortunately i give all SUVs plenty of room and expect them to do stupid things, so nothing happened, but i rode up next to them at the light to give them a piece of my mind. they seemed like a nice couple, and felt really bad, but their exact quote was " gosh, were so sorry, but we really didn't see you!" to which I responded "well maybe you want to think about getting a car where you can actually see other vehicle on the road." they of course had no response to that.
being that high up plus the length really kills their visibility.
I also once got sandwiched between a car (something like a nova or malibu) and a porsche while riding my bicycle home from work. The porsche changed his mind about peeling off to the right on a side street and steered right back into me and the car. My thigh literally tore the passenger side rear view mirror off the poor women's car. I didn't get more than a slight bruise. If that had been and excursion, i might have torn the mirror off with my face.
so yeah, i'll take a geo metro any day!
