15 lbs is 15 lbs. The biggest steak I ever ate was 3.5 lbs, and I damn near died.

What about those skinny little Japanese kids who win those hot dog eating contests at Coney Island?

The human stomach can stretch quite a bit, as well as the tissues surrounding it. Who knows? Maybe the guy is one of those people who eat huge meals once a day. Like freaking snakes.

I wonder how much a turkey dinner with second helpings weighs?

4-5 kg?

Haha....all that fat and protein at once must have given him serious problems 36 hours later, though.

Skinny people can eat more than fat people because the fat restricts the expansion of the stomach.

Its amazing how backwards that seems.

I am also in much better shape than that guy and I still could never eat that much.

He is just a mutant

The burger was over 20 pounds with all that bread and tomatos. I could eat a bigger half of it 5-6 years ago in a couple of hours.

Apparently it took 4 hours to do it.

How fast can your stomach squeeze food through the pyloric sphincter (sp?) into the upper duodenum?

20 minute flush cycle for the stomach, IIRC.

3 flushes per hour, 4 hours = 12 flushes.

15lbs = 240oz /12 = 20 ounces of food per flush, one ounce per minute, or a quarter-pounder every 4 minutes for four hours.

Insane.

Who gives a shit? Its a less damaging sport than weightlifting, for instance. Picking up 500 pound metal sticks is also a waste, with this logic. I could have eaten half of that burger and I'd enjoy it. perhaps I could have finished it in 5 hours too.

Lifting 500 lbs sticks as you call them, is about making yourself strong. As opposed to stuffing 20 lbs of sewage down your throat.

Just remember that stupid comment when someone who has taken the time to maximize their potential is smashing your fat face in with their stick.

Lol, just looking at that picture of him biting it...I don't know how that fit in his body.

Takeru Kobayashi

$this->bbcode_second_pass_quote('', 'O')n June 25, 2007 Kobayashi announced on his blog that he seriously injured his jaw during training. He stated that he can only open his jaw about the width of a fingertip. Kobayashi's participation in the July 4, 2007 Nathan's contest continued as scheduled. He was able to eat a personal record 63 hot dogs, though his mark was bettered by Joey Chestnut who ate 66.[10]

Lifting 500 lbs sticks is about breaking your back in a slow motion to amuse other people . Poor dumbster might need a much lighter stick to walk later.
FYI, I wasn't fat at all when I could eat that.

Anyone seen this?

$this->bbcode_second_pass_quote('', 'T')AIPEI (Reuters Life!) – A man died just as he was about to win a university binge eating contest in Taiwan, scoffing down two buns filled with rice and cheese as well as some of his teammate's food, the college said on Friday.

The 23-year-old, described as tall and strong, vomited relentlessly, passed out and died on Thursday during the "Big Stomach King" contest at Dayeh University in central Taiwan. He had pulled ahead of 30 other teams.

"I can't say why he died," said Huang Te-hsiang, the university's dean of student affairs. "He had been in the contest before. He was a strong guy."

The graduate student, surnamed Chen, may have eaten too fast rather than too much, a campus publicist said. Chen was on course to win the five-year-old annual competition, she said. He would have won T$2,000 ($60).

Taiwan's education ministry has halted campus-based eating contests while an investigation is launched.

I wonder what mechanism killed him? Perhaps a pre-existing condition that was exacerbated by the binge eating?

Has anyone ever died from over-eating?
