$this->bbcode_second_pass_quote('mrobert', '@')Farknight: "On The Beach" is in my private movie collection. Excellent movie

Basically, what you people say is that the american way of life, can and will continue, because otherwise we will get nuked.
Honestly, look at the standard of living declining in the US, and countries of which they laugh (Romania), having an increased standard of living ... yet I see no nukes.
After seing the effectivness of the US Army in Iraq, "The world's best military VS. Iraqi men in underwear running in the sand" ... what can I say ... I am all scared.
---------------
NUKES are a totally DIFFERENT story.
Ok, you invaded Iraq and fed some BS to the public on democracy ... that can fly. But do you honestly think the US can launch a Nuke, and the rest of the world (China, Russia, Europe, Japan, etc) ... just sit back and buy the terrorism BS?
People didn't give a f*ck on your explanation on Iraq because it was an issue that didn't affect us.
A nuke will ONLY be launched as retaliation to another nuke.
And guess who has the highest chance of seing a nuke first? Me in Romania, coming from the russians? No

You people in the US

It will be the next 9/11.
Some big US city wiped with a Nuke, coming from your wonderful government, to be able to justify a nuclear retaliation.
If I was a military strategist (which I am not, and they are way smarter), I would retaliate against the US with nukes. Just a simple deadly airborne virus.
You know ... it wouldn't post any threat to the rest, since there are a few thousand miles of oceans around you.
QED
I believe you are missing MY entire point mrobert; I
personally agree with most everything yous say. I don't advocate crazy nuclear adventurism, but perhaps our government might as you allude to in your post. I agree Iraq is idiocy on so many scales. These guys apparently didn't watch the British experience in Iraq or the Soviet experience in Afghanistan. The latter must be giving the old KGBers a great laugh at Amerika's expense and a pit of payback for arming the Afghans.
What I am saying is quite simple really:
1. Amerika will in all likelihood fairly slowly implode along the lines of Soviet Russia with a lower standard of living; Granted we are talking a few years here.
2. The power vacuum will be filled regionally by the EU, Russia, China and power block in South America...Africa remains a mess.
3. The US remains a formidable regional power on our continent, nuclear armed to prevent foolish aggression and more disengaged with the globe and more engaged with dealing with the social issues of our falling economy.
4. In Romainia and all other Europe the primary issue you will face is Russia and your energy dependence upon them. Putin has made it abundantly clear that Russia stands ready to assume the old Soviet nationalism and if Amerika does withdraw from Europe the EU will need to counterweight Russia. I truly wonder if it can, a hodgepodge of different nation states, culture and languages that all through out history warred with each other.
In the end the demise of the "Pax Americana" will not be a good thing for anybody. Yes Amerikans were gloating egotistical pigs on some cases. But that said, I have many family members who have fought to actually maintain other nation's political autonomy and died for it. Unlike Rome we didn't colonize Europe after WWII or Korea.
I can only hope the UN will step in and solve the globe's problems, any bets on that working?
The future ain't what it used to be.
