$this->bbcode_second_pass_quote('RedStateGreen', 'S')o McDonalds wants to go Starbucks on us?

I know, isn't that awful? What is it with people wanting to pay $4 for such a vile-tasting beverage? I hear it that it "perks" people up...but not me! If I make the mistake of downing one of those things, it's nighty-night time, baby...LOL.

Just like those silly, overpriced "energy" drinks they sell everywhere these days...I have to stay away from those too, as it's very difficult for me to stay awake after having one. Call me weird if you like, it's a badge I wear with honor...hehe.

Who cares? Have you seen Supersize Me?

Those fries in the bell jar just made me want to vomit.

$this->bbcode_second_pass_quote('DarkDawg', 'W')ho cares? Have you seen Supersize Me?

I saw the movie... but there's a certain falseness to the presentation; he claims to be interested in his health, but he makes very specific choices that have nothing to do with McDonalds or its food, yet lays the blame almost entirely at the feet of the fast food maker.

My biggest problem is the drink selection, every McDonalds out there has not only sweetened sodas, but also diet sodas, water, and often unsweetened tea. That huge soda he ordered each time had to have been a catastrophic shock to his system; when if he'd have ordered diet coke, water, or tea, it would have been a great big zilch.

Secondly. Fries. They are meant to accompany a burger or whatever, you don't suffer a fine if you don't eat them all. If he buys a 1 pound bag of corn chips at the supermarket, does he suggest that the right way to test the chips is to have a sandwich, coke, and the whole 1 pound bag of chips?

Finally, his most lethal action in that movie was the halting of his exercise. My joints having betrayed me, I can tell you something, halting exercise trumps everything else in that movie; he could have eaten lettuce and vinegarette and still suffered horrible results. This is the thing that tipped me off; he *knew* that if he maintained his exercise routine, the fast food would have done almost nothing to him; and thus made his film boring. Instead he halts A, then blames the result of that on something that will make a movie interesting.

As to venture credit, and BoA... I don't blame them. Now is the time to sit on your eggs and see what hatches. Taking on new risk when the rules to the game are up for revision; not very wise.

I wasn't talking about the decisions he made. I was just talking about the fries! There's something just not natural about a "vegetable" that sits on a kitchen counter for a month and looks like it was just purchased an hour ago.

Damn AgentR,

Why don't you just come out and admit you like eating from the golden arches. If you really think the food's not toxic then no reason to hide is there?

Potatoes keep for a very long time at room temp, fried or not. They seem to do fine for weeks or months even, then all of a sudden, turn into goo.

Just one of those odd little things.

I didn't realize I was hiding it...

I'll eat anything that doesn't try to eat me first,
and those that try to eat me first.. shoot it, then eat it, seems to work well enough.

Always have eaten this way; and the only factor that has ever had any impact on objective measurable health parameters (resting heart rate, 1 mile run time, that sort of thing) is quantity of exercise.

Good joints, lots of exercise. 50'ish. <6 minute mile; Joints begging for surgical removal... 90'ish. and ummm. well. no thanks. :-D

Also the amount of salt alone would help prevent the fries from rotting fast.

For investment bankers, armageddon means McDonalds

Unread postby seahorse » Sat 27 Sep 2008, 17:54:37

Just remember, the end of the world to these world investment bankers and guys like Buffet, Welch etc crying for a bailout is living on less than $100k a year. The thought of them standing in line at a McDonalds behind you and me for a Happy Meal scares them to death. Maybe they shouldn't have fought so hard against national health care, they're may need it. Maybe they shouldn't have fought so hard against raising the minimum wage, they may need it too. I have no pity for the "Rothschilds" of the world.

It's definitely huge. In fairness though, that photo is also angled to make it look bigger. Notice how close the burger is to the lens compared to the guy.

Yeah. It's the old fisherman's trick. Hold your catch out in front of you horizontally for the picture instead of hanging it by your side if you want it to look bigger.
Stop filling dumpsters, as much as you possibly can, and everything will get better.

Just think it through.
It's not hard to do.
