I propose "Bushville"

Tent cities

They called these "Hoovervilles" years ago, so I think the proper name now would be "Bushvilles".

Any other proposals?

I've seen a lot of tents and temporary campsites in the past few years - got a feeling we will see a lot more.

Savy homeowners all know Prefer Canvas over Nylon. Granite counter tops are so last year, Canvas is in.

It's already the name of a hamlet in New York state, if you're worried about offending somebody.

YouTube - Bushville

"Hooverville's are back. We'll call them Bushvilles now." Starts with BBC piece on foreclosures in the US, ends with some band rocking up This Land is Your Land.

Was also a lefty protest in Twin Cities:

"Bushville " set up near RNC site
Cogito, ergo non satis bibivi
And let me tell you something: I dig your work.

What in the world are yall going to do when Bush retires in a few months, and someone else comes in, and nothing of significance changes?

It will at least put to bed all the rumors about Bush calling off the election and declaring himself emperor. Then the paranoia will shift effortlessly over to McCain and Obama.

So, do you feel he's done a good job? Do you consider his term to be a successful presidency?

By all means, credit where credit it due. There is plenty to share. The "democrats" had their chance. They didn't fail miserably - they failed to try. There was no effort to restore civil rights - no effort to lay to rest the question of an illegitamate war, or the crimes of the same. No curb on spending, no lending controls, no environmental or energy reform.

Where is Obama's cry for justice? McCains? If they existed, they would be in the legislative record. They are not.

Mediocre. There have been far worse; and he gets points in my book for DOING the domestic policy agenda he campaigned on. You may not *LIKE* the things he has done; but thats a different issue altogether.

I understand that if you didn't want to fight any resource wars, or you wanted to advance some quaint lefty-green agenda, Bush and Co could be seen as a huge disaster.

So when you say successful, you always have to say, successful at doing what. Bush has been successful at getting more US forces stationed closer to resources the US needs for survival. Bush has been successful at maintaining dollar traded oil. Bush has been successful at keeping the economy from falling into a depression (so far). Bush has been successful at pushing through tons of new permitting for traditional energy resources. Bush has been successful at getting middle class Americans in on the "direct check from the government" movement. Bush has been successful at deploying the first, basic, ballistic missle interceptors. Bush has been successful at rebuilding and refocussing NASA from Disastrous Decision Makers United against Change, to Lets Lift Stuff! I could run this paragraph until peoples eyes bleed, but you get my point.

Different measures of success mean different things to different people. Bush accomplished much of what I wanted to see accomplished, though he did do it in a sloppy, uncoordinated, and inefficient manner.

Bush has been successful in making his oil buddies far richer.
He has been successful in making the entire world hate the US because we tried to steal oil instead of investing in alternatives.
He has been successful in taking away freedoms that we once took for granted.
He has been successful in socializing some of the biggest business enterprises in our country.
Bush has been very successful in making the little people pick up the tab for the fat cats.
Yes, he is a successful president.

Happy days are here again!

$this->bbcode_second_pass_quote('', 'H')e has been successful in making the entire world hate the US because we tried to steal oil instead of investing in alternatives.

Meh, most of them have hated us for decades. And its not "try to steal, it is HAS STOLEN!" teehee. You think Iraqi oil is now ever NOT going to be available for the US to purchase with dollars?

$this->bbcode_second_pass_quote('', 'H')e has been successful in taking away freedoms that we once took for granted.

All presidents try this, Clinton took away some freedoms that I had taken for granted for as long as I'd been alive; got'em back though. :-D We are just interested in a different set of freedoms is all; Bush hasn't trampled on anything I'm interested in, so all good!

I'm sure if Obama comes in, I"ll be whining and moaning, and you'll be contentedly looking the other way...
