$this->bbcode_second_pass_quote('threadbear', '
')Borderline personality disorder as a diagnosis is pretty tricky because irresponsible selfish idiots would be the first ones who would claim they had it and that they should be catered to.

Oh god that's funny. LOL

You guys seem to be arguing using the assumption that we actually have some say in this. I said it earlier in the thread - but how much impact do you think you really have? in Africa?

The reason you help your sister is because you can. And because in the scheme of things you do have some responsibility to her, that no African can ever claim on you. It's as simple as that. You help your sister, you can look at a life you have impacted and know that you made the world better. It's not like there's not enough misery to go around right here at home. After you're done helping your sister, if you still have resources and energy, you can help your community. After that maybe you can join the army. After that you can run for Congress. After that you can be Ghandi and Mother Theresa.

It's not that you don't care about Africa (although you might not), it's that Africa doesn't care about you.

hebephrenia sounds like the most difficult to deal with. What a thankless job that must be.

As an individual? I have no impact at all. And that's perfectly fine with me. 8)

Truly. Then again, years ago, I and a friend came up with an idea. We'd create a non-profit corp, declare it to be a charity, get fund raisers to bring in cash on a commission basis, and then loot the thing for something like 95% of the proceeds. The remaining 5% would go to some deserving 501c3 so we could keep it legal. Alas, he wimped out on me.

Sure, why not. I've been called worse...and deserved it! 8)

PMS, I was on the bus once and there was a man sitting in front of me half collapsing with laughter, just full to the brim with mirth. I asked him what was so funny, in a nice way. All of a sudden his face looked like thunder, he glared at me, and screamed ,"It's people like you who are destroying the world", then he hurried off the bus. Could that have been hebephrenia? It was kind of embarrassing.
Unknown Element:

I had someone renting the bottom floor of my house who was borderline and obsessive compulsive. She was a very giving, lovely person, in many ways, but she wanted to pack my house with her stuff. She didn't throw anything away. Ever. It was AWFUL. Her bedroom was a firetrap full of weird stuff like grapefruit peel collections, itemized and labelled. I think she filed her finger nail clippings. She was like a crazed hamster who can't stop lining it's cage with shredded newpaper.

The borderline part was the lying. Before she moved in with me, she had her husband thrown in jail because she thought he MIGHT hit her, explaining it was the same thing as actually hitting her. They'd been married for 30 years and he'd never touched her. The guy sat in jail for for several weeks. Harsh.

I was really nervous, after I gave her notice to move, that she was going to pull something like that on me or my husband.

She had normal, loving parents and a close family, so I think there is more to this than environment alone. A bit of nature over nurture.

I'm glad you got rid of that tenant without anything bad happening. When I was in High School my girlfriend's older brother was renting a house with a friend. They advertised for another roommate. The guy they brought in to share the rent turned out to be a dangerous criminal type who forced them to move out so he could bring in his psycho friends. Hebephrenia is a severe childish regression. Those afflicted display nasty, gross behavior in a giggling demented way. (Sort of like a certain Hollywood celebrity)

$this->bbcode_second_pass_quote('Jack', 'S')o, lotrfan55345 - why do you want to inflict pain on the third worlders? Why do you wish to expand their suffering?

What? ... sure.

$this->bbcode_second_pass_quote('', '
').

intercept. Population would increase as food supplies decreased. Demand - the kind of demand that represents life and death - would exceed supply.

Even if they got out of severe/moderate poverty, they would use 1/8 of the energy 1st worlders use... But I dont think that there will be a lot of people will donate to these charities that help thirld world countries when TSHTF, so I don't think thats something to worry about.
$this->bbcode_second_pass_quote('', '
')Most likely, those that your programs are designed to aid would be well represented amongst the dying. Indeed, more would suffer than if their numbers had remained smaller. On the other hand, there is a small chance that they could overwhelm the first world - in which case, the various posters on this board would be likely to become casualties.

I don't think it would make a whole lot of difference if they population increased by 5% or so in the next 10 years. They are already at what a person can suffer the most.

$this->bbcode_second_pass_quote('', 'A')AHHH This says it all..not yet 18 = lives at home with mommy and daddy has not had to live in the real world and take care of self.

Have you lived in a 3rd world country? Have you experienced 3rd world conditions? I've "faced reality" when I lived in a 3rd world country... Even with mommy/daddy.
$this->bbcode_second_pass_quote('', '
')My god bless you and keep you and may reality never rear its ugly head in your life

I think it already did... but thanks anyway...
