$this->bbcode_second_pass_quote('ROCKMAN', 'P')lantagenet,
Not picking on you in particular as others have made the same statement: there has not been a ban on drilling in the OCS. Since 1981 thousands of wells have been drilled in the OCS and have produced billions of bbl of oil and trillions of cf of natural gas. Today almost 20% of US oil production comes from those wells drilled during this time period. There are just certain sections that have been off limits.
Thanks, and not to pick on you, but you don't seem to understand what this topic is about. Monte started this topic to discuss Bush's speech about the
oil potential in those parts of the OCS that are currently closed to development. The topic title that Monte created specifically refers to Bush's claim that there are 18 billion barrels of
oil potential in those parts of the OCS that are currently closed to development. Because this topic is clearly about the
oil potential in those parts of the OCS that are currently closed to development it isn't necessary for every single poster in every single post to make the obvious point that you just did, i.e. that part of the OCS is currently open.
