Person can't buy an American built scooter these days.
That could be part of ye olde "WWII effort," assuming they're still around to effect this changeover in the first place. What the changeover would entail I'm not sure about, surely wouldn't be cheap or instantaneous.

JD and Joe Lieberman could be right and this is all just a rehash of dot-coms, silver, tulips. real estate, and we'll be back to $60/bbo in August. It's still seriously messed up quite a few industries, and is a solid demonstration of the lack of resilience in modern industrialized society.
