Watched (and recorded) it when it was broadcast. Just after Katrina, I convinced my wife to watch it. As I have tried to talk with her about PO before, seeing the uncanny predictions of this scenario really got her thinking. Now when I speak of PO, she doesn't flinch. What's more amazing is that we may relive this again with Rita. The only thing I didn't care for in the movie was they showed how vulnerable we are, but then ended the movie by 'everything working itself out'. I would have rather seen them end it with a 'less rosey' outlook. I don't mean a doomer scenario, but maybe somewhere in between. Not great in its quality, but very scary in its fortune telling.

Well what really freaked me today is that right after being subjected to this 2 hour predictimentary my TV went straight to the news and I saw footage of long long gas lines...

this seriously f'n sucks...

i like that part where the gas station owner quips about how his son can boast that he was THERE when america died.. yeehaw! But it's a thought that often crosses my mind.. like.. wow, isn't it amazing, that *I* was born at the end of the world! Lucky me, I get front row seats to armageddon!

i have also tried to download the movie oil storm for the past 3 years! i live in switzerland and i think the coincidence between oil storm movie and kathrina was spooky at best.

i tried the links to the torrents but they don't work. if there is anyone online who could let me have the correct torrent to the full movie version i would be very grateful indeed. i am stuck at 87%...

I agree FX will for multiple reasons never show this again. It is dated, the comparisions between the fictional hurricane and Katrina are way too close for comfort and gas prices they show that result from the fictional combination of events are not much higher than they are now.

That said I dislike the idea of this site being used to facilitate what is technically piracy and you never know when someone decides to send a nasty legal letter as a result. I am sure that is something the owners of this site would rather not deal with.

I think all these movies are dated now. They take a "despair, because this is what lies ahead" attitude and we're now trudging through that increasingly bleak future day in and day out.

Besides the fact that the conversion between the price of oil and gasoline was off compared to reality (gas prices would be much higher now in the U.S. if the price curve between the two was not altered in mid 2007), that $130/barrel cost at peak crisis in the movie looks rather silly now.
