All in all, I rather enjoyed it. Granted, its not "peak oil theory", but I think it clearly showed exactly how close to the edge we are in terms of supply and demand. "A million barrels of oil a day, thats 10% of the oil that America uses everyday." My question is, does everybody do with 10% less oil or does 10% of the American people (the poorest 10% of Americans) do without any oil at all. Hmmm. I especially like the station owners wife lamenting, (paraphrasing here) "How could we ever let oil become so critical to our lives?"
True, they toned down or glossed over some points I wish they had expounded on a little more. Like how quickly a "normal" life would come screeching to a halt. How quickly supermarket shelves would become bare. Grown children moving back in with their parents, so all would have a better chance at living. The oldest, weakest, or poorest dying because they could no longer afford food, medicine or heating. The rioting, killing, rampaging when people have nothing left to lose. Those points.
I think the movie was a good effort at a difficult subject that nobody "normal" wants to hear about.
